Chevron 4!!! Some might say the best chevron, or one of them anyway. I remember a story (I think it was from this episode) where someone was pranking Amanda Tapping by making the animatronic Thor puppet grab her butt, which made her swing around and hit the puppet knocking it over. She laughed later because for a few seconds she was genuinely apologizing to the puppet for hitting it. This was a great conclusion to the previous episode. We learn even more about the replicators, and Carter earns us some rep with the asgard. The O'Neill is definitely a cool ship. One question though is what ripple effects we'll see from the russians? They blew up one of their subs off the coast of the US, that cant just be covered up. Next episode is one of my favourites of the season, so really looking forward to that.

2020-12-08 00:51:31 +0000 UTCAll O'Neill wants is a fishing buddy. Hammond should go. I can see Jack chillin with the boss outside work, and Hammond is just laid back enough to do it. Only problem is Hammond seems practically glued to the SGC. DSoubt he has much in the way of vacation time

2020-12-06 18:09:31 +0000 UTCChevron 4! Blowing off the O'Neill is still one of the saddest moments in the whole franchise 😥 such a sexy ship design!

2020-12-05 19:35:49 +0000 UTCHa! Without giving too much away, Daniel pretty much put that idea to bed. The Replicators have intrinsic limitations that humans ultimately do not share. The Replicators only seem superior, but in reality are not. The human mind isn't just consciousness, but an amalgamation of the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious combined. An IRL argument is that our capacity to imagine and create gives us tremendous potential that goes far beyond where we are now. We have the potential to survive almost any known natural disaster, including the death of our sun. We're not there yet, but we're certainly on our way. Oh, and Chevron 4!

2020-12-05 16:43:30 +0000 UTC4:08 - it's a joke for anyone speaking Russian. The two sailors are talking about the tubes and how they are flooded or not and then the guy goes to open the tube. Then the other sailor asks him fearfully "what can it be?". And he answers "Maybe it's the insect from the last episode?"

2020-12-05 16:39:07 +0000 UTCConsider this: despite being mechanical, the Replicators are better *lifeforms* than humans/the Asgard. It's easy to see if you think of our biology as organic machinery. We too are driven to survive and replicate. That's the nature of life itself, all living things. Meaning, the scary part about the Replicators is that they're natural. Their bug appearance is no coincidence or design whimsy. Like bugs, Replicators are unconscious, non-sentient lifeforms that nevertheless produce complexity from simplicity. Bees, for example, produce a lovely honeycomb with perfectly designed hexagons for optimal space. But they're just bees, barely a brain to speak of. Not aware of anything. Similarly the Replicators learn and create and evolve all without a conscious awareness. Just machinery and programming. Replicators could exist. Nature produces them already. Biological ones. Our consciousness might not be the survival benefit we think it is. Unconscious lifeforms can still have the survival edge on us. We should be careful before we go poking around in outer space for first contact.

2020-12-05 08:24:42 +0000 UTCChevron 4. You have to wonder, what are Asgard ships made of, do they employ Naquadah? I would assume so in some places. So the replicators may already be made partly of naquadah, and hence why the more advanced ones couldn't be destroyed. I mean, Asgard ships are made of more advanced materials. Anyway, a lot of good info learned about the Replicators, which is good, and yes a small victory since there are more still in their galaxy, and this tactic may not work again, it was a one-shot deal. They really ratcheted up the jokes in this episode or clever quips. You can definitely feel that it's a new season with what seems like genuine happiness with the actors being there.

2020-12-05 07:58:07 +0000 UTCI still hear those lyrics EVERY time I watch the show intro. Stuff like that made the Stargate DVD commentaries so much fun.
2020-12-05 07:34:56 +0000 UTCI know its not the lake, but does Jack have fish in his pond? XD

2020-12-05 07:26:30 +0000 UTCHashtag Let Jack Fish. Can't wait until he finally gets to his lake.

2020-12-05 07:20:56 +0000 UTCChevron 4 engaged, let's go!! Btw - didn't Jack have 3 months of fishing on his baby mama's planet just a few episodes ago? Seems like ages already.
Stef Furness
2020-12-05 07:11:07 +0000 UTCAlso, I agree on the intro; the producers mock it hilariously in the DVD commentary. One even sang a song to cut the boredom during the intro. I can't remember how long they use this intro; but it's not for the rest of the series for sure. The intro for season 6 onward is definitely different.

2020-12-05 06:53:55 +0000 UTCFun fact, I believe this was the very first episode of SG1 I watched when it was on TV.
