Fun fact: Gillian Anderson and to an even greater David Duchovny, HATED filming this episode. David Duchovny almost got serious burns several times and got more than a few minor ones. The fire effects are real fire, and there were so many problems both Gillian and David refused to do much more with any fire effects for a good while on the show.

2020-11-30 19:49:00 +0000 UTCI just love that arson investigator. He's like Dexter, but with fire. clearly he has an unhealthy obsession with fire, but at least he puts it to good use. He's played by the same guy who played Catherine Langford's father in Torment of Tantalus on SG1. Speaking of SG1 cameos, you're gonna lose your shit a bit at the start of the next episode. AFAIK, it's usually the 13th floor that's skipped. While I doubt most builders/owners are superstitious, tenants might be which could cut into profits. Apparently 4 and 14 are skipped in china because "four" sounds similar to "death" in chinese. Amanda Pays, huh. Something tells me she got stiffed for the bill on dates a lot. Man, I just can't deal with burns. Fire doesn't bother me. I have a healthy respect for the danger it poses, but beyond that I'm fine with it. Burns freak me out though. I can see people stabbed, legs blown off by mortars, decapitated.... you name it, but burns just make my skin crawl.

This was an interesting episode, I don't even remember it my first time watching X-Files when it first aired. So I like seeing episodes I've forgotten about. Don't really have a lot to say, I think they could have gone a little harder on the spontaneous combustion aspect, like diving into that phenomenon, but otherwise, a good ep.
