You should react the The Magicians, really good Sci-Fi show!

Man, Dr. Bashir turned into an asshole in his old age. Honestly though, within SECONDS of this episode starting, I knew it would be a play on The Seven Samurai. You have this simple farming village, people living peacefully, and all of a sudden a bunch of ruffians roll in, no uniforms....... the set up is just too obvious at this point. Sure enough they start pillaging and killing shortly thereafter. Classic story though. I'm a little surprised Arthur didn't at least try and have the villagers put together some simple bows for the women. Archer support would have helped a lot. Hell, I'm sure a few bows and crossbows missing from Camelot's armory wouldn't have raised too many eyebrows(ok, they probably would, but he's the prince). After all if Arthur, Merlin and the rest of the village's men are dead and none of the women are even trained to fight, I don't want to think about what the raiders would do to them. Also the episode never touches on it, but while Merlin leaving was expected, Gwen, Arthur and particularly Morgana were not. Uther gotta be back in Camelot during this whole thing going "the f**k did everyone go?".

And Kanan was played by Alexander Siddig, who played Doran Martell. So we got the double GoT crossover

I almost didn't recognize Gendry, pre-growth spurt, without the Baratheon black hair.

Merlin's magical abilities mostly rely on what he has learned since he arrived in Camelot, aside from moving things and slowing time which seems to come instinctively to him. Basically, he doesn't know how to heal or I'm sure he would have saved his friend.

It's my first time with each episode following along as well. I'm with you, it is slowly approaching getting a tiny bit old with Merlin hiding his secret. I'm not sure we are quite there just yet. But I sure hope we don't have several series without the building of a close nit of confidants aware of his abilities. I know that I'm growing to like the show. Because I just got angry with Merlin for first appearing to let his friend die when minutes beforehand he was willing to reveal himself. Maybe someone with a better understanding of the show can clarify if his magic would of been capable of saving his friend. Although I took it later on as he was perhaps honouring his friends wishes to help sheild his secret from Arthur. A choice maybe bolstered by the evidence of Arthur's reaction. Suggesting he is still not ready to hear the truth.
