I'm not a fan of double episodes ^^. I never get it to work. The first link only lasts an hour and the second doesn't work for me. Then it says "The video cannot be viewed" To the first episode That was one of my favorite episodes. Because I was just as surprised. In general I have the feeling the seasons (the first 3) are getting better and better.

2020-11-19 01:22:55 +0000 UTCTWO SG1 eps! You mad lad. You read those comments about missing one a week or 2 back, didn't you? I love Shades of Grey. As others have said it's never the same knowing the outcome. On the surface, sure, anyone who knows anything about episodic TV knows it'll get sorted in an ep or 2 anyway, but they really do sell O'Neill going dark side. The timing of this episode is also pretty interesting, as it's about Earth building relationships with their allies, and just in the last ep they were turning to the Tollan and Tok'ra to help rescue O'Neill. Also notice how the DHD on Edora was all MacGyvered back together after the meteor strike. Nice continuity touch there. The one scene I liked most in this episode though was near the end. the episode quickly makes it clear that O'Neill was on a mission all along, and it all makes sense right away. But that still leaves open the question of how O'Neill felt about the whole thing. He might have been following orders but still be legitimately pissed that they weren't getting the tech they wanted. His talk with Daniel about them not being able to relate, or telling Carter he hadn't been acting like himself since she met him, it made you wonder if there wasn't this darker Jack O'Neill hiding just below the surface. As soon as he said "we don't need their stuff, Makepeace. We do need them", it's just like "that's our guy". Excellent episode. New Ground on the other hand has never been one I liked too much. It's ok I guess, just pretty forgettable. It strains credibility that a culture could get that advanced and be so closed minded. I did like Nyan though, he seems like a good kid. The actor wasn't in Buffy, in fact I don't know most of his work off imdb. A big chunk of his career has been voicing english dubs of anime characters like Inuyasha. Also forgot to mention, there is a lore mistake in this episode. The bedrosian stargate has Earth's point of origin symbol on it, which should be unique to that 1 stargate.

2020-11-18 23:54:08 +0000 UTChad a similar experience going through Star Trek Voyager again last year for the first time in almost 20 years. It's always fun to see how your perspective on a series changes when you put it down for a while.

2020-11-18 22:16:25 +0000 UTCI don't know. I mean people would be pretty panicked if we found out we were about to be bombed from orbit by a goa'uld mothership, understandably. But just over the philosophical implications of alien life existing, I honestly think we'd talk about it for a few months and most people would go back to their social media and other pointless BS. It's like in that X Files ep Space with the astronauts, how the colonel says people used to be riveted by every bit of news about the space program and know all the astronauts names, and now nobody pays attention unless something goes wrong and people die. And that was the early 90s. Even today when we hear about signs of life being found on Mars or elsewhere it's basically a footnote. We certainly wouldn't wage a global war over the revelation. We as a planet definitely have our shit more together than those guys. The "news" just likes to make us think otherwise, because that's their whole business model.

2020-11-18 21:15:12 +0000 UTCOh we do love a double bubble! I do really like both these episodes. If my memory serves me right I remember not buying the Jack has gone rogue from the outset. But honestly it's been SO many years lol I could be wrong about that. Having said that it was really fun watching you buying into it for the most part.

2020-11-18 20:42:28 +0000 UTCTwo great episodes! The latter isn't as appreciated as it deserves, I think. This is the first time we visit a planet that's not only close to us in terms of technology, but has the same kind of politic-religious issues that we have here on earth. It's the same kind of panicked mess we'd probably go through here if we found out aliens were real.

2020-11-18 10:45:46 +0000 UTCI am also looking forward to those episodes, though I really enjoy 21, as well. The score they use in 20 is among my favourites for the entire series ๐
