There's a reactor, Medusa Cascade who is also reacting to the show and I highly recommend her. She's almost done with Season 2 on Patreon (though I believe she has finished watching the series, she just has a long backlog of episodes to publish).

2021-01-03 07:09:06 +0000 UTCI too am disappointed in Zhann here, but given the events of last episode it makes sense for her. She's unlocked this old darkness inside her, one she was clearly struggling to contain. I think that explains both her more lenient attitude to the violent actions, as well as her desperate desire to go home, possibly in the hopes they can help her.

2020-11-16 09:51:38 +0000 UTCWell I'll tell you what my LEAST favourite scene was, any one with needles getting stuck into eyes(yeesh). I just can't deal with that. Though I'll say The Expanse sold it being a lot more uncomfortable an experience. Still, freaks me out. Such a good episode, but it made me pretty conflicted about the characters. Honestly to me Namtar and his experiments, and even Aeryn turning into a pilot, were somewhat of a secondary aspect of the episode. Namtar was decently intimidating(even if the fights with him looked kinda shit. The regeneration effect was cool though), and obviously Aeryn was going to be sebacean again by episode's end. The conflict with the crew however is something they're all going to have to live with going forward. First up, gotta say how much I admire Pilot for handling being attacked and mutilated with such dignity. Hats off to Farscape for making us care about an animatronic puppet that doesn't even leave that room. There's not much to work with to develop that character, but the show manages to do so nonetheless. Rygel being willing to betray Pilot is expected. Rygel is a self centered ass most of the time, so I don't feel much different there after this episode. D'Argo I wanted to pummel after he cut Pilot's arm off and acted like it was nothing, but I liked that he went and apologized in his own way. D'Argo has always been a "by any means necessary" character, so like Rygel, it's somewhat expected. Zhaan on the other hand, I'm not even mad at, just VERY disappointed. I don't know much about her order of priests, but she always came across as someone who tried to help others and ease pain. If there were lives at stake I could see justifying what they did to Pilot, but to inflict that kind of pain just because she felt homesick, it feels like she sold her soul, in essence, for a plane ticket. John didn't much change as a character here. Even if it meant never going home, I don't think he could bring himself to ask that of Pilot. But it is nice to see him getting more comfortable in that world and having a little more agency. Like he said, he's learning. And that leaves Aeryn, who by far had the best development this episode. The past few eps and especially here we're seeing her break away from her peacekeeper training and start to define herself by her own rules. At the start of the series, I'd expect her to have a similar view of the situation and of Pilot as D'Argo. As a peacekeeper she'd probably look at him as more of a tool than a person, but I was so proud of her as a character when she stood up to Zhaan and D'Argo. Pilot is a shipmate to her at this point, he's family. I loved how she pointed out that if they're willing to betray Pilot, would they be willing to turn of everyone else on the crew. If I had to pick a favourite scene, it would be when Aeryn was talking about losing her identity scaring her more than physically dying, and John telling her she would fit right in on Earth. After all the messed up stuff that happened this episode, it was such a wholesome, feel good moment.

2020-11-16 03:13:42 +0000 UTCNot sure what happened to my other post, so I'll retype it. Basically, in this episode, we learn a lot of new information about Pilot, which is a good character piece for him. In This Episode we learn that His species cannot travel the stars on their own, so they rely on being bonded to Leviathans to explore the galaxy, that's cool. He has regenerative properties and some kind of multi-tasking ability, I'd imagine so he can control Moyas functions. We also learn that he is a servitor, and puts ship first, and then crew. He truly is an awesome alien concept. Overall I love this episode, I feel that though it might have fit better earlier on in Season 1, as everyone was getting to know each other. It seems to me this might have been better as the second episode, or third. Because the core thing everyone would be wanting was to go home, and they'd have to decide their course, where they go, who goes first etc.... They would be angry with each other at the beginning, and slowly learn to get along. That makes sense more early on IMO. Then by the end, everyone is calmed down and understands they just have to run for the time being. I dunno, I just feel this episode would work better if it were placed earlier in the season for many reasons.

2020-11-15 12:30:42 +0000 UTCAlso, thank you very much for continuing to react to this series, please stick with the whole series, including the final mini-series "Peacekeeper Wars" ending the series got. This is one of my favorite series, and no one else has done, so I really appreciate it.
