Air Bending is OP af. The reason it sucks ass rn, is because Air Benders have ALWAYS been pacifists, so nobody actually developed any real R&D on how to cheese kills w/ Air Bending, like the other types with millennia of R&D on how to kill shit etc.

2020-10-22 13:00:53 +0000 UTCZuko's patience (and lack of it) with Uncle Iroh gives me life XD I wouldn't say water bending is bottom tier at all. Imagine being able to direct water to your fields and towns where needed etc. Fire on the other hand has very limited uses unless it's in battle. Even for industry you'd need something to burn.

But considering the primary antagonists are fire benders, it could be argued as being one of the most important skills in the show as it is the most natural counter to fire bending. Earth bending seems like the most outright powerful though, but fire bending is right up there too. Air bending doesn't seem terribly powerful, but very versatile. I'm sure there are all sorts of ideas of balance worked into all of that.
