It’s called a Gilly box and was invented on the set of the X-Files. Their office set actually had whole elevated runways for Gillian.

Scully can be pigheadedly skeptical sometimes, but she's also concerned with solving real crimes to help real people, whereas Mulder is often literally chasing ghosts. He needs someone to remind him of what's important now and then. And be careful with those glass tables! I've had a supposedly safe glass coffee table explode. Thankfully it happened when everyone was out of the house but even the aftermath was a petty scary sight.
