I love you man but the NAME DUDE!!!
2021-06-08 16:45:38 +0000 UTCLeana? Why? Leh-Nay-Uh come on man they said it a million times in both episodes :-) just teasing. I think Daniel's behavior makes sense in the light of his wife passing. He was just traumatized and as a reslt he doesn't want to see this nice intelligent woman he just met hurt. It definitely affected his judgment. He was right in the end mostly though. However, every interaction with Ke'ra after they found out was awkward. They knew the chemical was blocking her memories, they should've played it cool. I think letting her go back to the planet was a huge mistake. Even if they cured everyone and THE ENTIRE PLANET (!?) got their stories straight before sending her back. LADY IS SUPERHUMAN SMART YO! She's gonna put two and two together quick. Especially if any people on her planet act as squirrely as they SGC did. Put her in a coma, roll her down a hill in a barrel with a couple rocks, give her head an extra light whack, throw in some stiches, a little amnesia juice and Bob's your Uncle. Wake her up in a hospital in Boulder, tell her name is Loretta and she was on her way to Cal Tech to start a postgrad superscience degree or whatever. All Earth disease cured by Amnesia Chick in her first week. Unless she gets mugged, then it's hello Loretta Destroyer of Worlds.
2021-01-30 17:53:55 +0000 UTCGreat episode! Love the twist. Couple things, though... 1) I agree that Daniel/Ke'ra relationship didn't really work on screen. Maybe it's timing, maybe it's writing or just no chemistry between actors. They could have gone "sympathetic Daniel" route without adding love interest, just Daniel being compassionate as always. 2) How exactly are they going to cure an entire planet and keep that a secret from Ke'ra. If she hears about the cure, she's going to want it and she has the skills to make it at home, so no one will know until it's too late. 3) Maybe Lenea was made evil by the life, but what if she was born that way? After amnesia a lot of what she was remained like intelligence and scientific knowledge. So her inborn psychopathy can rear it's ugly head in the future, even with memory missing.

2020-10-19 02:44:42 +0000 UTCI had Vyus pegged for the late 1800s to early 1900s. I agree the Goa'uld were careless, and an eventual advanced humanity coming for them was a likely eventuality. However, Earth has some advantages the other human worlds don't have. First is its large population. Most of the Stargate human worlds aren't heavily populated, even the more advanced ones. A large population is kind of necessary given the scale of their opposition. Second, is Earth history being filled with conflict. Humans from Earth have a lot of experience with it. The Tollan, though advanced, aren't really versed in the ways of warfare. They wouldn't consider even trying to take on the collective Goa'uld. Earth would, even if it required a prolonged conflict. In Stargate, Earth has the will, they've just lacked the means.

2020-10-18 19:42:29 +0000 UTCThe biggest problem I have is that in going back to the same planet, there's a good chance she could overhear other people talking about the vorlix and realize it wasn't just her and that an antidote existed. So that was sketchy. But I guess the idea the episode tries to get across is that people aren't inherently good or evil. Ke'ra isn't Linea just because her DNA is the same, and as long as she doesn't remember who she is, Linea is essentially dead. Regarding Daniel getting romantically involved, in his defense Ke'ra came on pretty strong, and like Daryl (and Daniel himself) said, he really lost Sha're a long time ago, but I agree this episode would have worked better swapped with one of the standalone eps near the end of the season. Still, it could have been a couple months since Sha're died. There's generally no way to tell how long passes between episodes. On average it would be about 16.5 days, but there are times where literalls seconds separate say a 2 parter, and times where months pass. If Orner looks familiar, it could be because he was one of the cops back in 1947 in the last X Files ep you reviewed, or maybe from somewhere else. I lol'd when he asked Teal'c who would give him that name, and Teal'c's face is just like "how dare you, sir?". What I do like in this episode is it's an example of how good this show is at wrapping up loose ends. There aren't too many times the show just leaves major plotlines unresolved. Also to me Vyus is an example of why I think the Goa'uld's days were always numbered. They got sloppy. A lot of planets SG1 comes across are inhabited by primitive humans, a few human civilizations, like the Tollan, are extremely advanced, and some are just a bit behind Earth. Vyus looks to be at 1930s or 1940s tech, so they're not too far off from Earth in the grand scheme. If the tau'ri can be such a pain in the ass to the goa'uld, and there are potentially dozens/hundreds of worlds that have been abandoned so long by the goa'uld that they can be within a century of Earth technologically, with some being ahead, it stands to reason that sooner or later there would be an uprising by these more advanced worlds the goa'uld left to their own devices.

2020-10-18 13:51:02 +0000 UTCTotally agree, Daniel has really become the team's moral center and most of his interactions with others are driven by either empathy/compassion or curiosity. The fact that Ke'ra seemed to share his qualities of intelligence and empathy and was attractive on top of that made it unsurprising he'd have some feelings for her.

2020-10-18 12:57:07 +0000 UTCSo I'm going to differ a tad than some on the too soon element for this episode. I think actually it could be quite timely and here's why I think that... Daniel qualifies, he lost Sha're a long time ago. You could see this as being 3 years into his grief process. There's actually some other grief commentary going on here. It's not an usual reaction for someone to find comfort in the arms of another. Maybe not healthy but since when do people always do what's best for them. Daniel is initially intrigued by Ke'ra's brilliance but she is the one who makes the first move. Daniel's proceeding actions and arguments might not want to be regarded as love but more compassion. Which is something we see a lot with Daniel's character. Once Daniel finds out who Ke'ra used to be the affection stops but the compassion continues. The SGC will always do things that have the potential to come back and bite them in the arse. As they try walk that pretty fine line and try not to cross it too many times.

2020-10-18 09:10:32 +0000 UTCI always took Daniel's "love" to be nothing more than depression and desperation that spawned from the death of his wife.

2020-10-18 09:09:15 +0000 UTCMichael, man, I think the way you've picked up on some of the episodic plot lines in this and the previous season -- before they've been developed or explained -- shows how well you mesh with Stargate. I hope you're planning on posting the next two episodes as a combined reaction, because in a few of your reactions you've pretty much been asking exactly for them.

2020-10-18 07:10:05 +0000 UTCThis is another one of my favourite episodes this season. I love everything about it except that it's directly after the one where Sha're died. Too soon, Daniel! That aside I think this is one of the best villain pay-offs we've had on the show. Linnea was always such an unnerving character and it makes for a tense episode.

2020-10-18 03:24:24 +0000 UTCSo the way I see it, at least with Linea going off to this planet, with her memory erased, as long as she doesn't take the drug she won't necessarily be who she was. And in this way, by going to this planet, the SGC can keep check-ups on her. They can keep re-visiting and ask the people where she is, what she's doing, how she's doing, and in that way they get to keep tabs on her. Otherwise, if she just went off on her own, they wouldn't know where she was. So they basically got the best of both worlds, stop her from doing bad things, and keep tabs on her. It was the most humane ending, anyway, other then just sending her to jail. Which they couldn't really do on Earth anyway. At least these people can watch her. And you have to consider, Daniel is a humane kinda guy, always thinking with good morals, he sees the good in everyone.

2020-10-18 02:58:20 +0000 UTCGreat episode but the love thing definitely felt rushed. I feel like the parallels with Kira were ment to be less about Daniel and his darkness and more about Daniel refusing to lose anyone else to the demon inside them.
