Kyle: "What magic is this?" FailWhale34: "VHS." I laughed so hard when you said that.

2020-12-27 09:06:27 +0000 UTCI am surprised like you that the young men believed the projection. After all, they were completely indoctrinated and had faith in the idea that Apophis is a god. Someone who was raised and radicalized in one specific belief cannot change his mind instantly. And if some might, the majority won't. They were already suspicious about SG1's intents, they were not sure that they were part of the camp. They could have believed that this is a coup with a fake projection of Apophis to influence their minds. But this is a fiction and sometimes scenarists have to take shortcuts to wrap up an episode. Btw, I grew up with this series when I was young (14 years old). I remember that I was a member of discussion forums about this series on the internet and I watched the golden age seasons of the series (seasons 4, 5, 6, 7) at least 4-5 times and the whole series at least twice. I am very glad to see that people who didn't grew up during the Stargate period are discovering it. This is in my opinion the best sci-fi show I've ever seen because they are mixing sci fi with reality and with real human mythology. I don't recall any other sci fi show doing it. You truly want to believe in this secret US military base that nobody is aware. lol I subscribed to your Patreon only to watch the series again with your reaction to it!

2020-10-08 04:20:10 +0000 UTCIt's strange that these recruits would recognize Teal'c as an authority, considering they would have been sent to this camp well after Teal'c was known to be a shol'va. Maybe they weren't as well informed as other jaffa. Also yet another mention of Sokar!! Admittedly the ending is rather abrupt, but I did like this story overall. The idea that the people on the ground can keep fighting a war even after the ones who started it are dead is an interesting one. This is also one of O'Neill's most hardcore military man eps, but I think that mostly came from him not wanting these kids to die. Favourite line of the ep has to be O'Neill saying "yes, my lord" to Hammond, but Teal'c's "underling" was pretty good as well.

2020-10-08 03:12:02 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite episodes. Such a fun and confusing opening, and a really cool conceit. But I totally agree there's no way it ends like that. I think you must be right that it's incomplete. Maybe they had to cut out a more satisfying ending for time or logistics? It was all very convenient.
