"Major, next time Daniel gets the urge to help someone, shoot him."

I always thought this Unas looked different because it wasn't as old and worn as the Unas we met previously.

DANIEL JAMES

You're right, this unas wasn't voiced by James Earl Jones. Actually, it was voiced by Christopher Judge.

Somehow my comment got lost to the web and I don't feel like retyping it, but it also acknowledged Simon being Hanno and I think the actress playing Mary was the rumor-power character from Alphas, more recently starred in Project Blue Book. I think the trepanning bit lends to the doom and gloom vibe of this episode that we don't usually get from Stargate. Also, fuck that guy with the ring. Slurmy bastard.

Stef Furness

yep, Hanno. Stargate reuses a lot of actors. Dion Johnstone did a crapton of roles on the series.

Timothy Nikiforovs

Yes, Sokar is certainly being built up at this point in the series, kind of a shadow villain compared to Apophis who was much more out in the open. It's funny that you mentioned Cor-ai during Teal'c's "test" since the guy who plays Simon also played Hanno in that episode. Also if I'm not mistaken this is the episode where O'Neill picks up a permanent scar on his left eyebrow. Some sources say it was from the guard hitting him with the m16 in 1969(could be either I suppose), but I think it was permanent after this ep. Richard Dean Anderson doesn't have a scar there, and if I recall the story he wanted O'Neill to have some small distinguishing feature, hence for the rest of the series they shaved a tiny strip out of his eyebrow and glued a tiny prosthetic on. Regarding trepanning, it actually wasn't as horrible as most people think or as the ep portrayed it. It's a crude procedure, but has a basis in real medical science. If you have an aneurysm or swelling in the brain the relief of pressure can in fact be life saving, and the procedure was often survived even in the middle ages. Obviously we have better options today, but it was often an effective treatment. And when Teal'c just casually wakes up from being drowned it's like, "little trick I picked up from my buddy Jesus".

Timothy Nikiforovs

I knew he seemed familiar, Simon's actor also played the young man in the episode with Teal'c's trial.

Matthew Kwaske

Wonderful reaction!
