2020-10-04 14:58:57 +0000 UTCThis was the first episode I ever saw or this show. There has never been something like this on tv. I was scared to death but also intrigued. I was hooked for the rest of the show.

2020-10-02 05:17:21 +0000 UTCIt’s good to pay attention to all of the writing and directing credits because there are some other major names that got their start on this show.

2020-10-02 00:54:41 +0000 UTCSome of the comedic episodes laid the DNA for the genre shifting of Community believe it or not, but those come in the middle to late seasons. Dan Harmon is a HUGE fan of the show.

2020-09-30 13:05:49 +0000 UTCSuppose I'll drop a comment. First off, basically sub'd to Patron because I saw you were doing X-Files, so that's a thing. Second, I'm sure someone has mentioned this somewhere, but X-files basically follows the structure of random monster of the week type episodes, as showcased with this episode here, and the overarching "alien mythology", which is kinda highlighted in the first two episodes. Just some things to keep in mind going forward!

2020-09-30 07:51:57 +0000 UTCDude, I had no idea Donal Logue was in the X Files! Barely recognize him compared to his Vikings/Gotham characters. Then again he's got to be in his 20s here. Also Kevin McNulty was Dr Warner in several episodes of SG1, most recently Legacy. And yeah this is a creepy one. Conversely I actually turned off most of my lights, to get that full effect. X Files has a few different types of episodes. The first 2 fall into the same category of advancing the aliens on earth/government cover up mythos that's a big part of the show, others deal with mysteries or strange happenings, some are more comedic. This one however if the first of the show's "monster of the week" episodes. It's a similar format to many Buffy episodes. Tooms is creepy, but I guarantee he's tame compared to some of the things they'll encounter in the future. Also, this episode is where that shot of mulder and scully from the intro comes from

2020-09-30 00:55:08 +0000 UTCIncidentally, there's a show called Millennium, also by Chris Carter. Worth a try, I really enjoyed the first season.

2020-09-29 19:25:09 +0000 UTCThat’s Doug Hutchinson as Eugene Tooms. He plays creepy and utterly unnerving so well, you should see him in The Green Mile. This was one of those 90s show episodes that if you were a kid back then and happened to watch it, it would pretty much scar you for life. The approach to horror in this episode is absolutely stellar, recognising that the most terrifying thing is not only to linger on what’s scary, but simply imply things, or leave things unexplained. Why does he collect these trophies from his victims? Why are his eyes that colour? How does he live so long? Where did he come from? What can allow him to stretch his body into whatever shape he desires? Things like that. This was the first Monster of the Week episode, X Files originated that term pretty much, the occasional episode that breaks up the main alien story arc with a case that’s unrelated but still supernatural. Note that this was also written by James Wong. He’ll write quite a few episodes for the show, before going onto his Final Destination fame (ironically the first Final Destination movie was actually going to be an X Files episode before they decided to turn it into its own thing...small world). Either way, great reaction.

2020-09-29 18:47:24 +0000 UTCOne of the many creepy episodes of this show. I was 9-10 and had NEVER watched this show before, accidentally seen one short scene on TV and it terrified me. Did a whole series watch about 6 years ago, thoroughly enjoyed it.

2020-09-29 13:19:33 +0000 UTCThis is one of the episodes I usually skip because I don't want those nightmares. I started rewatching X-Files and I noticed lots of actors from Stargate appearing.
