I got the feeling that they considered the joke to be rather low brow by their standards. It was funny, but in a juvenile rivalry sort of way. Not sophisticated enough to hold their interest past the first joke.

2020-09-14 06:11:06 +0000 UTCMore jaffa jokes please!! I always feel so bad for Teal'c when no one laughs at his joke. This episode also just makes me anxious for future goauld with a little more... muscle. 😄 Next!

2020-09-13 23:55:14 +0000 UTCTo answer your question, this episode aired in august 99. The first episode to air in 2000 is about 2/3 the way into this season. SG1 is on a roll. 2 system lords in 2 episodes. Granted Seth was a small fry at this point. Even Hathor had way more firepower. Still, gotta start somewhere. They're actually starting to make a dent in the goa'uld problem. Overall not one of my favourite eps. It's fine, and it's cool to see some resolution on Jacob's family issues, as well as Sam getting another buff. Also you'll notice another change in the show at the end of this season. With the S3 finale they switched from 16mm to 35mm cameras and kept using those from S4 onward, so there's a definite increase in visual quality at that point.
