This finale compared to last season I find it a bit lame.

2021-08-03 02:06:34 +0000 UTCI have always considered seasons 3 and for to be where this show finally gets up to speed and does not slow down from here on out. Some awesome episodes upcoming and some fantastic story arcs. Super excited for the second part of this story as well.
2020-09-06 08:07:20 +0000 UTCI can't wait for you to start season 3. I love every single episode of it. Not that I didn't enjoy Season One and Two. Because it's Stargate!

2020-09-04 23:04:39 +0000 UTCI turned off New Rockstars (my other nerdy indulgence) to watch this reaction and, I gotta say, your enthusiasm is contagious. Even knowing it was a clip show going in, your energy hyped me up all over again. Here we go season 3!

2020-09-04 19:52:04 +0000 UTCExcited for season 3! Not trying to hype at all, there's just a lot less episodes I skip on rewatches from s3 onward. So I'm personally excited!

2020-09-04 14:48:48 +0000 UTCWoo! On to season 3! Hathor is always a good time and as far as recap episodes go, this one is pretty good. Can't wait for part two!

2020-09-04 11:13:52 +0000 UTCMy much younger self wasn't a fan of clipshow episodes. Particularly in this case when it is a finale. But the much older me now can see the benefits of budget distribution. But I did get a bigger kick out of the episode with your enjoyment levels added in for this one. I can now appreciate how well these are done for SG1.

2020-09-04 08:18:34 +0000 UTCYou were mistaken actually. Hathor is the mother of Heru'ur, not Apophis. Though since Apophis is Ra's younger brother, then that would mean that he is her uncle...as Ra is apparently both Hathor's father and husband...which is...weird, but not unusual for Egyptian gods.

2020-09-04 06:08:52 +0000 UTCI actually love that Stargate does the cliffhanger season finale. You're right that you just don't see it very often anymore. Most shows like their seasons to be all wrapped up these days. Standalone seasons. Stargate really is just an ongoing story, one season to the next.

2020-09-04 05:33:23 +0000 UTCClip shows can end up saving $250,000 they can spend on another episode

2020-09-04 05:31:04 +0000 UTCAlthough this episode is kind of minor in some ways, it does introduce some things that will be seen again.

2020-09-04 02:20:24 +0000 UTCYou missed it(fortunately) but Suanne Braun's name in the guest star credits kind of spoiled the reveal at the end. Sometimes they'll push a name like that to the end credits to avoid that, but most people might not remember since she only appeared once. Teryl Rothery (Fraiser) though really does give away that it's not really far in the future, as guest star names don't show up for archive footage. In the clip from The Fifth Race you can hear the unedited asgard voices from the original broadcast. Still don't know why they changed that. You know as I got into my late 20s/early 30s, I find myself doing Teal'c's little head tilt move more and more. Whether I'm thanking someone, or acknowledging their thanks, or greeting them, etc... it's nonverbal communication that just says "indeed". Also how many "General Hammond"s did Teal'c drop in the scene where he woke up, lol. Was getting kinda repetitive. A lot of people criticize this episode for being a clip show, and I have to agree. Most of it felt like padding. Politics back in S1 was a MUCH better use of a clip show. The season 1 finale arc starting with the alternate universe ep is probably one of the best written and executed storylines in the show. I wouldn't rate the S2 finale as high. I am excited for you to get to later 2 parters though, because generally speaking they trend toward bigger and better as the show goes on. As you get into the next few seasons you'll start to see bigger budgets at play. the S1 finale was a masterclass in making the most of what you have though. The AU episode and politics were both fairly cheap(most of the destruction on earth was shown in maps and news reports, most of the cost would have been in set redressing and pyrotechnics) to save money for an explosive finale. But yeah, Hathor was an interesting choice to bring back, and the fakeout 2077 thing was cool for a bit, but I feel like the clips they used weren't very relevant(except 1 or 2) and were mostly just there so she only appeared at the end. I think they just didn't know what to do with her if they revealed her too early. Lastly I love the camaraderie between Hammond and Teal'c. His departure reminded me of Worf leaving the Enterprise in Redemption. You can tell Hammond is more worried about losing another friend than Teal'c actually being a security risk.

2020-09-04 02:15:48 +0000 UTCAs a season finale, this clip episode feels like a nod from the writers that, yes, we’ve established a lot of supporting characters in the last two seasons, and no, we haven’t forgotten them, we haven’t forgotten anything.
