I forgot Michelle Forbes (Ensign Ro/Admiral Cain) was in this. Also at 1:35:33, talk about close. Also care packages, yeah I guess you could call them that. Then follow that up with new hunger games? I mean seriously, Coin wasted no time becoming Snow 2.0. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, but Katniss won't get fooled again Also “Winner/Gagnant” made me laugh way more than it should have.

2020-08-23 19:50:57 +0000 UTCFyi the reason that haymitch reads a letter from Plutarch and they just mention him off screen is because unfortunately Philip seymour hoffman had passed away right at the end of filming

2020-08-21 20:34:17 +0000 UTCThe Hunger Games may be one of the few series where I prefer the films to the books. I did enjoy the books before I get pounced on but you touched on the reason why in your review. The books are written from Katniss' first person perspective and there are numerous examples where she's not really involved in what's going on (the thing after Coin's death that you pointed out is probably the most jarring example). There is probably a metaphor in there about how, in war, decisions are made behind the scenes far away from the battlefield but from a narrative point of view, it can be jarring. She does spend an awful lot of time in hospitals. At least in the movies you do get the opportunity to see other perspectives and it does add a lot more depth to the world building.

2020-08-20 18:48:29 +0000 UTCWhat I love about this ending is that the entire point of the series -- the kickstarter for everything -- was Katniss protecting her little sister, and her sister *still* dies in the end. By the end of the series, it's very clear what this saga is truly about: not a singular hero overcoming the big bad government, but war and its terrible effects, and the price of war. I mean for YA, Hunger Games tackled war, grief, genocide, ethics, and politics in a thrilling, character-driven narrative. I’m forever in awe
