2020-08-24 16:34:00 +0000 UTCLots of good stuff and story threads in this episode. Really loved the scenes between Sam and her father, Jack and the reporter, and Daniel and Sha're. Looking forward to seeing some SG merch! Might be hard to get hold of this long after the show ended, but I remember seeing some great 'indeed' t-shirts.

2020-07-06 03:37:44 +0000 UTCLol, that reaction at her being pregnant. Also Teal'c gotta be thinking "I thought it sucked when I went home and found my wife married another dude, but now it doesn't seem so bad". I don't think it's ever revealed where Armand got his info, or who ordered the hit, or even if it was a hit. I think it's pretty much bottled up in this episode as a mystery. My money would be on the NID though. I doubt Maybourne would leak it, as it would be too hard to sink his claws into the program if it's public. Kinsey would not want the program leaked because he wants it shut down and if it were public too many people would be so in awe of it they would demand it kept being used. NID is a civilian agency though, so more likely a civvie whistle blower trying to make the govt/military look bad. I also can't see Hammond ever ordering a hit like that. The man has too much integrity to operate like that. While I will say props to O'Neill for coming up with and convincingly delivering that lie about the C5 Galaxy, I couldn't buy it either. Cargo planes, even big ones, are basically hollow tubes. There's nothing to navigate, certainly not compared to a city. On the Carter front, I don't think he was trying to manipulate Sam, I think he just knows he's dying and he's desperate to see her accomplish her dreams(not knowing what she actually does). Clearly they didn't have the best relationship, and it's obvious they're setting up future drama, but I wouldn't say he's a bad guy. Just a tad controlling. The Sha're segment of the story irks me though. It would be one thing if this episode had happened 4-5 seasons from now, but less than 1.5 seasons in the rear view mirror they discovered Thor's Hammer on Cimmeria. A major argument in that episode against destroying it was that it could save Sha're and Skaara. Said Hammer was just rebuilt 2 episodes prior. This is the golden opportunity to get his wife back that Daniel has been waiting for, and he stalls. And then later when the ship is landing, I get Daniel being distracted, but Teal'c could have dialed earth in like 2 seconds and sent the iris code. The had like a minute. Also if Daniel had bothered to remember the Hammer exists, I doubt he'd object to Sha're being asked a few questions. Granted she probably couldn't begin to understand Amunet's knowledge of goa'uld tech, and her strategic knowledge would mostly pertain to Apophis who is a nobody now, but still. After the kid is born, tranquilize her, go to Cimmeria, get transported to the cave, carry her through the hammer. Done. I get that rescuing Sha're would remove Daniel's whole motivation for being on SG1, but I wish they'd made it more believable.

2020-07-06 00:20:56 +0000 UTCWhile it was never explicitly stated who killed the Reporter, it is widely accepted that it was most likely the NID behind it. It was not Jack or anyone specifically attached to the SGC.

2020-07-05 20:37:52 +0000 UTCYes, they were actually married in real life for a time (Edit: turns out, I was wrong about that). Michael Shanks is currently married to Lexa Doig who played *a character* in seasons 9 &10 of SG1 as well as Andromeda in the scifi show of the same name, starring Kevin Sorbo.

2020-07-05 19:48:45 +0000 UTCI still rank the whole General, Captain, General, waiter." Bit as one of my favorite mini jokes in the whole series. RDA has amazing comic timing when he needs it.
