UNEDITED EXCLUSIVE: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire REACTION!

I'm watching two people react to this series right now (you and Liam Catterson) and since you both came away with the same impression of the picture of Rue, I have to say... man, the movie missed this point in the adaptation. Peeta painted it to rub the noses of the gamemakers in the horrible thing they'd done to Rue, because he considered it the worst of their crimes, and Katniss was so worried about him having done something so forbidden--the part of the games where she covered Rue in flowers was cut out of the public broadcast because people aren't supposed to remember fallen tributes as human--that she hanged the effigy of Seneca Crane just to overtop the outrageousness and put the target on herself rather than Peeta. The left it in the movie so people would know what Peeta did; in the book, Katniss had a forty minute wait while they cleaned up after "whatever Peeta had done" because they didn't want even Katniss to see it.

It’s not established in the first movie, but in the first book it’s established that Capitol hovercrafts collect the bodies during the Games because one year a tribute started eating the dead tributes

yeah me to. Its a common problem for the movies he reacts to. Not sure if its editing mistakes or pure software. Either way i always forgets it halfway through

Spoiler from the Catching Fire book: Do you remember the peacekeeper we see getting bagged after welcoming the new peacekeepers to disctrict 12? That's likely Darius and he was a friend of Katniss. In the book he tries to help Gale during the public whipping and because of this "crime" he is turned into an Avox and placed to serve in Katniss' and Peetas' room. Just a grim detail from the books. There are other cool details that you might notice from the films. Like how Joanna came from a lumber district and is using an axe as a primary weapon, or that Finnick is from a fishing district which is how he learned CPR (from drowning accidents).

Yes! perfect for a Friday evening. This is my favorite of the movies although the last mockingjay is also excellent.

The person with that creepy mask in the background while they're in the living area is an Avox. They are people who have commited crimes against the capitol, they have their tongues cut out and are used as servants/slaves for tributes and capitol citizens. I love stuff that is placed in the background of scenes and have you looking up what they were, adds more of a complete world feel to me.
