On the topic of Cyberman Autonomy, Graham, Yaz and the 2 other humans could wear the Cyber armour to get around because Cyber armour physically is just like normal armour that you can wear, though obviously a lot more advanced. Cybermen aren’t like Ice Warrior suits or Dalek casings that a person can climb into. Cyber armour is loose armour that is bolted around the augmented human being as added protection. Underneath the armour but over the augmented human is a grey space suit like the Classic Series Cybermen. You can see the grey space suit on Ashad the Lone Cyberman, as he has bits of armour and tubing missing so its visible.

I'm literally a year late but I agree on that. I don't mind the Timeless Child reveal, it doesn't really change much as to who the Doctor is, but I feel like it would have been amazing if The Timeless Child had been the Master. Especially since he's been the Time Lords' tool before in New Who. Not sure about the Doctor being Tecteun though, I'd rather not have one of my favourite characters experiment on children.

Mark

It hasn't been confirmed that Ruth is pre Hartnell. She might even be the next Doctor!

Tandem Yeti

CyberMasters better come back and have a devastating impact. Otherwise, there were no consequences from giving the Lone Cyberman the Cyberium. Also, I feel like the timeless child reveal would have been SOOO much better if the Master had been the timeless child or the Doctor was the scientist/explorer that found and experimented on Tecteun.

The Doctor herself has grown on me, but two season and a special later the companions have no emotional connection with the doctor, like Bill or any of the previous new who companions had.

How is The Doctor's name meaningless? It's the longest running arc in television history and serves as a top notch mystery. How does this episode change that?

Tandem Yeti

I was worried the timeless child would be timelord jesus and yup sure enough. though people saying there were more doctors than just the 13 well moffat already ruined that with "the war doctor" who only existed because chris wouldnt come back. so we could lazily explain it away as well the doctor took on the name doctor after the 2300th regeneration so......... but then you have the new doctor they introduced this season whos supposed to be prior to this doctor

Magus

This final is just God awful it absolutely butchers so much canon and changes the Doctor fundamentally saying they were always special and they aren't a legend they built themselves. Not to mention the spit in the face this is to the First Doctor, also we know for a fact the first Doctors tardis is the one that got stuck as a police box so how in the hell is Ruth's Tardis a police box? This is just... bad on so many levels. If the doctor has infinite regenerations then what was the point of River giving up all of hers, or the Doctor getting an entirely new set? Chibnall did not care what legacy he tore down when writing this and it's really unfortunate because I genuinely enjoyed the rest of the season it's just such a crappy ending.

Sheriff

That's because this is the first time he's got to the 12th regeneration post Time War. The Time Lords aren't around to wipe his mind, they can only 'grant' him another regeneration cycle to prevent him from getting suspicious. Obviously this wasn't the initial intention but it fits with the story.

So the doctor has infinite regenerations and gets her mind wiped every 12th time. So in Matt smiths last ep, when he gets awarded another 12, he didnt? Thats bs and it seems like the writer just forgot this...

Terrific ending to a greatly improved season. Only gripe is the timeless child reveal but just chock it up in my head-canon as a big lie from Dhawan’s master.

I think this episode follows the over all trend since the show changed hands. The production values are really very very good. But that was never an integral part that kept me tuning in. Quite a lot of music doesn't hit the same spot for me. That can't be helped and it's not bad necessarily, just hasn't always helped to carry me along in the same way it previously had. There have been a few exceptions. Taste is subjective. I won't bang on again about the writing... Some interesting questions raised during this series and particularly in this episode. My initial response to the timeless child declaration was partially expected after ep5 and quiet annoyed honestly. I didn't read any theories on it at all. With so much still unexplained, on reflection I was too busy being mift to question anything. We were presented with the history but given absolutely no proof of The Master's conclusion at all, unless I missed something? Feels like a lot of space to furiously backpedal to me depending on how the very idea is received. I do like the idea in principle, with its potential for narrative expantion. But written on the thinnest piece of tissue paper possible ready for the expected buckets of cold water from parts of the audience. Was that incredibly dangerous army of regenerating soldiers swiped off the page during a ten minute window. (Be like an omnipotent being exposing a crew to a new dangerous foe who upon first interaction seem unstoppable, but then resolve to obliterate them with one volley.) That should be code enough for those who have seen the other show and not enough detail to spoil for those who haven't. lol

Oh man, idk know how to feel abt this finale tbh like i need to watch this the 3rd time to wrap my head around everything. 🤔

^This pretty much sums my feelings on the Doctor being the timeless child. It doesn't change the fact the Doctor got fed up with the Time Lords and ran away. It doesn't change the who they are at the core. I just adds a lot of tragic backstory to the Doctor and why the Time Lords were always kinda weird around them. Also, I'm surprised you didn't like Jodie's performance in this episode. I thought she nailed all of the emotional scenes and she was really convincing when she had to be angry. My favorite thing about her Doctor and how she portrays her Doctor is that words are not needed to express what is going on in the Doctor's mind. Jodie's performance is so nuanced and subtle which is different from the past Doctor but I find it fresh and welcoming. She adds a whole other level to the character.

"But Chris Chibnall is accidentally my favorite showrunner because instead of the Dr being the Other, all powerful god-creature founder of Gallifreyan society, the Dr is “the other,” a child refugee who is granted no agency and treated like so many othered, marginalized people: a useful tool to be exploited, even by those who claim to care for her, eventually given no route to find out more about her actual origins because that’s not a priority for her masters. It is absolutely wild to me that in one episode this series took a character who had always been (to me, anyway) a subtextual immigrant even before the time war, and textually, canonically said, “yes, they are not only an immigrant, they are a refugee who has been massively exploited and abused and gaslit by a more powerful majority that essentially forced them to conform and assimilate” “and then they escaped”

Lynn Walker

the doctor's name, built up heavily in smiths run with river and so on, could be anything now and totaly meaningless

Amelia Liggins

The revelations were okay, though I feel same way as Faily, but the rest of the episode was a bit meh. Also letting the general sacrifice himself so she could live was very out of character for The Doctor. Ah well.

Mr K

Ok so I loved that episode but I know a lot of people didn't and are even somewhat offended by it because it "breaks the lore" but let me try to defend it: Firstly, it hasn't changed anything about the lore, it's only added to it. We learn more about the history of Gallifrey and the Time Lords and about The Doctor's past, hidden from herself. Even the faces of Morbius are now canon that they are previous incarnations of the doctor. The Doctor is still a Time Lord who ran away from Gallifrey in a faulty Type-40 TARDIS, that doesn't change, it's not like she remembers her time before Hartnell as she was mind wiped (and possibly reloomed?). There still are a lot of questions that are unanswered with this episode and also some new ones because of it. If anything, this episode helps add to The Doctor's mystique as her past is even more unknown now. So here's some things that we are left guessing about: Where is The Doctor actually from? Why is Ruth's TARDIS a police box and why does she call herself The Doctor? What exactly is The Division and what did The Doctor do during that long period of her life? Why did Ruth leave The Division and hide on Earth? Hopefully these questions are answered in the next few seasons. We could even maybe get a spin-off for The Division! (One can wish). Anyway to conclude I thought this episode was great and am excited to see where they go with all these new revelations. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Yeah, it’s just a stupid canon breaking idea

Ward Junior

So we now know a lot of who doctor who is. Not even a gallifrayan or time lord. No mor time lord victorious. The time of the doctor doesn’t make sense now because the doctor has always has infinite regenerations. It was believed that rassalon founded regeneration and that’s one of the main reasons he is seen like god on gallifray . And they changed everything so no reason except to do a little, ‘I am proud of who I am’ and all that.

Ward Junior

I don‘t think this makes the Doctor special, really. It makes her an abused child. I think this is a story of tragedy and brianwashing, not of making her somehow the chosen one. After all she didn‘t even know, so it changes nothing about how we‘ve seen the Doctors character so far, never influenced their choices and stuff. Also we don‘t know where they‘re from, in their og universe being immortal might be the norm and nothing special at all lol. The message for me is that her trauma and the stuff she doesn‘t remember don‘t define her - she started being the Doctor with William Hartnell, because she chose that name, and the Doctor we know and love is still our Doctor. It‘s a message that really resonates with me so it means a lot to me, however I do agree that the writing is very flawed at times. I think Chris Chibnall would have been a good writer for classic Who, he seems very focused on that. This entire arc basically solves a plothole from over 40 years ago lol (Faces of Morbius, 4th Doctor) so yeah it‘s not really breaking canon, rather adding to it. Personally I think Jodie was amazing here, but I agree she could have been given more to work with. Hope to see more of the Doctors emotions regarding all this. All in all, while I do see many issues in the writing and wish a lot of things would have been executed better, I still really liked it.

Also, surprised you didn't rate Jodie during this. I think it was perfectly pitched, especially when she lost it with The Master on the mountain.

Matgo Styles

I understand how people don't like the revelation that The Doctor is special, but that's only in terms of Gallifrey (which is gone) and for me this is outweighed by the fact that she is once again a mystery. The show is called Doctor Who because the central character was an enigma, but their backstory has been slowly filled in by the various writers over the years, keen to make their mark. For instance in Classic Who it wasn't mentioned that The Doctor was from Gallifrey until series 11. The whole Timeless Child arc asks many more questions than it answers which is how I like it.

Matgo Styles

An absolutely wild finale but I enjoyed it. I had to watch it again because I was bit confused at first but rewatching made me absorb the information dump a bit better. There's a lot to process with the Timeless child backstory but I'm curious to see where they go with it It's made me curious but I have to wait and see what they do with it before I can have an opinion on it. It's already caused a division of opinions among the fandom but I'm ready to see what they do with this story. Perhaps they'll explore the Division or something else. I actually think the strengths of this finale were The Doctor and Master's interactions. I thought the acting with Jodie and Sacha was great. They really hit the emotional weight well and I love how ecstatically crazy the Master is. There was some great tension in the Cybership scenes too mainly when Yaz, Graham and the supporting characters were hiding in the suits. I agree that the heart to heart that Graham had with Yaz was touching. It makes me wish they had more moments throughout the series together so the moment could have a much greater impact. The ending also surprised me but it should make for an interesting follow up for the next special. I'm surprised the companions survived. This series has definitely been an improvement over Series 11 and yet it evokes more questions than answers. I enjoyed your reaction. Now the long wait for Series 13 begins...

Hey!!! Shouldn't you be resting? 🤔 Take it easy on yourself. A whole new universe of possibilities has opened up. The faces from the Brain of Morbius are definitely the Doctor now. I see why Chibnall brought back the Master so soon. Only he would be insane enough to do what he did. The prophecy if thhybrid has been fulfilled. Sacha Dhawan was magnificent as the Master. He'll be back. Love to see a multi Master vs multi Doctor story in the near future. Michelle Gomez's Missy should return. This felt like an anniversary special with the scope of new and old information presented. It could also have played out like a series finale. You go rest now. You deserve it.

DinoX7

A crazy finale, and definitely some additions that’ll go down like marmite. But hey, I’m completely onboard for where the story goes next! Even if it’s awkwardly backwards..!
