Also, at 51.40, the actress thats calling for her kids in the show is susan, the doctors granddaughter I believe

2019-06-22 16:14:15 +0000 UTCjust noticed. It is Baldrick from blackadder that plays the caveman that agrees to have teeth dulled or what have you

2019-06-22 15:54:24 +0000 UTCGreat reaction Failwhale34 as usual. I'm glad you finally got to see this. I thought David Bradley did a wonderful job. I hope you are ready for what's coming next.

2019-06-21 02:22:21 +0000 UTCDownload link still works from WeTransfer! @stonzy87 the second link should be processing still, sorry about that! The download definitely works though, lmk if there’s still issues

2019-06-20 17:50:05 +0000 UTCAbsolutely, I've always taken Smith's appearance as a nod to the legacy that they all built the foundations for in those early years. Hartnell may be shooting his final scene but he will always be remembered, for generations to come people will continue his work.
2019-06-20 17:48:18 +0000 UTCI've never had a problem with links, if the 1st one doesn't work I just download it on my pc or phone

2019-06-20 14:05:49 +0000 UTCWouldn't it make more sense if he waited until the link worked before posting,or am I misunderstanding how it works?

2019-06-20 09:23:59 +0000 UTCIt’s not a spoiler to let you know that John Hurt wasn’t playing the first doctor in that last episode.. it was mentioned then. just thought that would be nice to clarify before you react to the next episodes :)

2019-06-20 01:48:48 +0000 UTCI'd put The Five(ish) Doctors alongside this as the best from the 50th. 🙂

2019-06-20 00:05:18 +0000 UTCI had low expectations of this film when I first heard about it. But at that time I was a casual Doctor Who watcher. I'd missed so much of the previous series 1-7 after its return. I could only remember seeing a smattering of classics as well. When I decided to Netflix marathon to fill in the caps, I became a Whovian. So when I finally saw this wonderful nostalgic gem. Of course I burst into tears at the sight of 11 stood next to 1. Glad I saw it as a Whovian as most of it would have been lost on me before.

2019-06-19 23:11:00 +0000 UTCThis thing is packed with cameos! The guard who asks for Sydney's ID at the start is the guy who played the real Ian Chesterton. The woman who goes out shouting for her kids is the real Susan Foreman. The guests in the party when Verity leaves is packed with people going right up to the 7th doctors era. It's just a love letter to Classic Who.

2019-06-19 23:08:37 +0000 UTCIt's a film of two halves - the fun and fascinating first half dealing with the shows creation;and the heartbreaking second half, describing the origin of the concept of 'regeneration'. There were a few events that needed to be condensed in order to fit the 85 minute running time - particularly the story behind the design of the console room;and the fact that it wasn't really Sydney Newman who came up with the regeneration idea;but overall it was the best thing to come out of the 50th Anniversary (even more than DOTD,imo). Has it given you the desire to watch/react to more Hartnell Dr Who stories?
Ian Smith
2019-06-19 22:36:27 +0000 UTCi think that matt smith cameo at the end was meant to show us how william hartnell (the 1st doctor) had no idea how big the show would get, and at the same time to reassure him that after all these years, the doctor is still the same at heart. kind of like what the doctor did for vincent van gogh when he took him to the future and showed his impact. that's just my personal interpretation though :)
2019-06-19 21:41:58 +0000 UTCWow this is the first time I'm watching this and you BET I cried my eyes out there at the end holy shit

2019-06-19 21:33:00 +0000 UTCVery much enjoyed that. It may not have had much to react to, but I think it still worked for you. Has it given you the urge to try more classics, I wonder?
Mr K
2019-06-19 21:31:05 +0000 UTCI loved this, really makes me look at Dr Who with more respect seeing how it all came about - This was made for the 50th anniversary, hence Matt Smith doing a cameo, kind of a bridge between past and present.
