2023-01-19 15:28:02 +0000 UTCThat's true, I hadn't actually thought of that interpretation of what happened with Bonclay. I saw that as Sanji just caring about protecting Nami specifically, and that Bonclay's trick may not have worked if he used some other woman's form. I could see either interpretation, I just like to think of it as a choice stemming from him personifying a chivalrous gentleman, rather than some decision Zeff burdened him with. That's a bit less admirable imo, then he's just being forced to do it which is depressing for him lol.

2023-01-18 15:32:06 +0000 UTCI agree with you that Kumadori’s design is one of the best of CP9. His fighting style in particular is also so unique. I am not sure if you noticed, but Kumadori has another power besides the 6 powers called Life Return which he was using against Nami. That power in general makes his fight so much more interesting.

2023-01-18 04:41:26 +0000 UTCSetting aside what was said, mainly because that could be a product of translation and/or adaptation, it seems like it’s a bit more than a choice, especially considering that he was unable to hit bon clay when he was transformed into nami, despite knowing that bon isn’t a woman, in his eyes at least. Though that’s just my interpretation, and I’m not trying to say that I’m absolutely correct about the authorial intent

2023-01-17 00:30:25 +0000 UTCHmm. I don't see it that way. Sanji said "even if it costs me my life, I won't kick a woman". That makes it sound like a very voluntary choice, not an unconscious reaction (because he said won't instead of can't, which implies choice). That's why Nami said she respected his chivalry more, because she realized that it stems from Sanji's kindness as a person. Zeff taught him not to hit women, but I believe that Sanji at some point adopted that teaching into his own ideology as a person of his own free will if that makes sense.
