One Piece 277-278 PATREON Reaction

Comments

Robin's flashback happened 20 years ago when she was 8, she is now 28. Kuzan wasn't admiral Aokiji yet, he was just a vice-admiral like Saul. We also heard "Vice-admiral Sakazuki" who destroyed the evacuation ship (now admiral Akainu!) and "Admiral Sengoku", so he wasn't yet fleet admiral at that time :) Lots can change in 20 years!! Oda is really good at showing characters we know in flashbacks wearing different clothes or hairstyles, and somehow it still looks like them. That's really impressive!

Vanessa Stoilova

I love it because she told Iceberg she didn't care if it destroyed the world, she was willing to let the world burn to save the other straw hats and by shooting down that flag, the symbolically declared, they would burn the world to save her.

Laura D

Oh man. I watched this like 5 times already but I managed to cry the whole 2 eps with u Jack.

Matheus Martins de Oliveira

dramatic irony is when jack says he hopes jaguar doesn't die

RJ

I know I'm late but Kuzan is Aokiji. Aokiji is a moniker like 'straw hat' or 'pirate hunter and means Blue Phesant. 10 years ago Aokiji was a vice-admiral and since then has been promoted to admiral.

Macabre Marauder

Cry over what? Lion king? Pftt..

One Peace

Yeah, Robin's backstory is easily the second saddest.

Drizma

Who left this bowl of chopped onions here?!

RetroJohnny

Franky crying at the end of the episode is us

Nat_off

What a manly man

DiamonDust

Thanks for the info, I had no idea. This is so in character for him, Zoro is a man of conviction.

DiamonDust

You know I wondered if I would cry when watching this for the third time and yeah I sobbed probably longer than Jack did just because I knew what was coming. Goodness her backstory is just quite possibly the most difficult to witness. I knew Jack would be crying through most of this video and I was right.

Harley Taylor

Aokiji is just Kuzan's Marine designation, it translates to "blue pheasant". The other admirals (but not fleet admiral) also have animal designations, it's a reference to a well known japanese story that contains those 3 animals.

DiamonDust

Jack: "I'm gonna be strong" Famous last words

DiamonDust

Hahaha and it's not over yet prepare to cry a bucket. Mentally prepare yourself to be crying until the strawhats reach the next island lol but even then hahaha

John Stephen Sundae

No, many people cry watching this, I have no shame in saying I cried along with him the whole time even though this is like my 5th time rewatching this. Honestly the meaning of this backstory is so much deeper than anything the lion king has to offer you have to be shallow to find that movie sadder than this

Guillaume Feuvrier

Aokiji is like a code name, all the admirals have one

Manav Grewal

Literally right down everything from Ohara lol easily one of the most important locations in the series

Vincent S Deluca

robin deserves everything

ricenicc

Protect Robin! :'( seeing this over again just keeps hurting so much :'(

Smiling Saiyan

My God. I'd have thought that watching it again for like the 4th time would make it hurt less. NOPE! I swear it's the saddest story to me in all of fiction. I've never wanted a character to just "have a good life" as much as I wish for robin to have that.

Jordan

Kuzan is name, Aokiji is alias he got (means "Blue Pheasant")

Jack_B

It's amazing that I've watched this episode years ago, but learned fact above just recently - I'm sure OP have more details like this and re-watching can hit you a bit different. Always loved the episode itself and the fact that after realizing Robin's perspective Luffy most efficiently conveyed their resolve to her by shooting flag - what comes after is pure gold :) P.S. You might want to write name of the admiral that ordered to shoot civilian ship at Ohara (although there is also this name/later alias dilemma similar to Kuzan/Aokiji) ;)

Jack_B

Watching Jack cry is somehow so entertaining, am I evil for feeling this way?

karl

also the fact that all of this is still relevant a 800 chapters/episodes later

Gabriel

PEAK FICTION

Gabriel

not really because all of those new info will all be shown after the recap episodes as "recap" lmao.

User5501

yoooo I actually did not know this, that's such a unique detail!!

Flamingueax

This is peakk

Spicynoodle

You're right about that

Thiago Carvalho

All of the admirals are given a codename/title. It's always a color + an animal. Aokiji means "Blue Pheasant" in japanese. Kuzan is his real name, which is what he was called here since he was still a vice admiral at the time.

Jacob D Tired

So it's not that Aokiji is his first or last name. It's actually his title/alias. Aokiji translates to "blue pheasant". Without giving away the 2 other admirals titles i'll just say that the other two are "yellow monkey" and "red dog". Kuzan is his "actual" name. I don't believe we've ever learned what his last name is or if he even has one.

Michael DeArmas

I want to say something more about the story of Ohara but I probably shouldn't because there is alot of anime only fans in here. All i can say is Oda never forgets things.

Artemis

I've been skipping the OP episodes since I'm all caught up and I'm not trying to watch it again. But there are impactful moments I will jump in on. Like EP 278. Love it. Keep up the reactions.

Dramamean

I've been counting down the days for this specific episode reaction 🥲

Brittany Staight

Oda is a monster when it comes to backstories ;-; Great reaction as always, I hope you called it a day after these two eps because it was HEAVY - "I want to live!" 🔥😭😭😭👍

Mimi

I always thought that had importance, but I didn’t know exactly what. Thanks for sharing. I like all the things I’ve been learning here.

Josh

Long story short, someone else posted this comment, which has since been deleted, and it got turned into a copypasta. Or at least a couple people are attempting to do so.

Josh

kuzan is aokiji's first name, this was back when he was a vice admiral

brad li

During the staredown when Robin yelled that she wants to live, Zoro made a strange motion where he partially unsheathed a sword and resheathed it, making sure the metal parts hit each other and made a sound. This is samurai gesture known as Kincho. It signifies a vow that has been made and cannot be broken. By doing this, Zoro vowed to make sure he can grant Robin's desire to live, or die trying. Essentially, this is man pledged his life for hers.

Jack_B

Seen this scene 100+ times and every single time I tear up. With you brother, stay strong! Only gets better from this point on. (:

Rah05

Now my friend, I ask you why, why do fans consider this show to be one of the best in the world? It’s for scenes like THIS!! This is the POWER of one piece, and this emotionally charged storytelling and characterization is why this series is crowned "King of shonen" and the touching and evocative writing that oda delivers. If you can believe it, the bar even gets higher.

Artemis

ive seen this comment somewhere else smh, tf is goin on

Kenji

tf is with you bruh

Kenji

LMFAO

Kenji

yup this episode broke every reactor who I’ve seen watch the series. Even the ones that hardly get emotional. I was messed up too

MrOreo133

you have to intensionaly overreact right, i have watched the last 270 episodes with you and i havent cried once and it is not like i am not a sensitive person i cried every 30 plus times i rewatched the lion king, i cant see that being not an overreaction

ToG Sage

I copy the embedded link into a browser and watch there. The way to do that depends on your device, but usually you can select the address bar and copy that with a right click or pressing and holding on mobile. You will have to click on the video first though to open it in a separate tab/window. Hopefully this helps.

Josh

I love the thumbnail 😂😂😂

KZ

this comment is pure gold

Valeriu Irimia

to expand on this, the admiral names we were given are all a colour + animal. Aokiji = blue pheasant, Akainu = red dog, and kizaru = yellow monkey

The Otter Man

nah man I can confirm that I was crying along with him here even tho it's probably my 7th or 8th time watching these episodes

The Otter Man

😂😂😂

ImbaLance

Yoooo I've seen this hundreds of times and still cried probably more than he did. Some people are just more in tune with their emotions. Heck, I even cry just thinking about the I wanna live scene.

Jiyeon-ah

"Now she wants to die man." It's worse than that man, she was prepared to die at 8, here in this moment. She pushed on for her mother, her people and for the future for 20 years fighting that want. She finally can't deny that she's just been on borrowed time through everyone else's wishes. Not like they aren't partially hers, but she took on the world alone and as a child as the coalescence of a dream for truth

Chrysanthemum

you have to intensionaly overreact right, i have watched the last 270 episodes with you and i havent cried once and it is not like i am not a sensitive person i cried every 30 plus times i rewatched the lion king, i cant see that being not an overreaction

Peitrex

No single episode, movie, or book, has ever made me cry as much as this episode has. It took me days to go back to feeling “normal” the first time. Maybe it’s because I’ve dealt with suicidal thoughts since a young age, but hearing Robin finally say she wants to live was a train wreck for me. Amazing reaction as always. Thank you for existing.

Josh

Technically the next few episodes are not filler but recap episodes. I personally wouldn’t skip them because they have at least 20 seconds each episode of new info. If you just skim through each one without recording them that should be fine.

Nicholas Smith

I cry just as much as jack and I've already seen these episodes fucking several times before. something with onepiece just hits differently. on the other hand I never cried during lion king even as a kid. you relate to things in different ways and get emotional by different things, that just life.

Sebastian Sordez

Young Robin's voice actress did such an incredible job with her, she's portraying her emotions so well ;--; I will never be able to watch these episodes without crying

Sidari Yumanara

Everytime man... these scenes just... :'(

J M

So because he doesn't react similarly to how you do, it must be fake? You're a fucking idiot.

GGC

You have a certain threshold for your emotions and how u react to those emotions, so does he. It’s easy to know who overreacts and who doesn’t. This to me doesn’t portray overreaction, but deeper connection with the world and the characters. Same could be said for LK, cause I never got that reaction when I saw LK, but I had a similar reaction to Jack’s when I first saw these episodes way back when.

ImbaLance

oh man, the thumbnail already says so much q.q

Sidari Yumanara

*hugs* ;___;

Adil

Jack after 277 : "I think i'm ready for the next episode." Jack one minute into 278 : "This is so painful."

Uryuri

I'm watching this part for the fifth time and i still cry every time, so i don't find it that unreasonable

Niccolò Gentili

i will sob again with you

Kayla Jimenez

Weird take tbh

chrisis

Kuzan is his name and Aokiji (meaning Blue Pheasant) is an alias. According to the wiki: "His alias and other admiral aliases (Aokiji, Akainu, and Kizaru), are taken from Momotaro legends (Momotaro met Pheasant, Dog, and Monkey as friends to accompany him in his journey)"

Leisercom

There, there.

ImbaLance

never cried watching pixar movies but one piece knows how to make a grown man cry. you sure you really watching lmfao

beansprouts

i'll say it everytime it's necessary, GODA

chrisis

Different things hit people differently. I've never cried from The Lion King, but there are several One Piece moments that will make me either misty eyed or full on crying every time I watch them.

krok

Bro the lions king? Bro I laugh watching the lion king gtfo. Stop telling people to not have emotions

Bison

I cry a lot watching one piece, so I can relate to him. =P

David

I think you should write down that Vice Admiral Sakazuki guy's name in your note. Just in case he appears again in the future. And yes, Aokiji is an alias that means blue pheasant.

Trainer Go

Just want to clarify Saul says he's not like those giants from elbaph he's from a peacful giant tribe. also this was 20 years ago when Aokiji Kuzan was still a vice admiral

Gavin Barham

new one for the playlist lmao

TripleZed

So can you intentionally cry for 30 min without any genuine emotion? in my eyes jacks reactions are extremely genuine. its why i stick around

zip529

Grammeland

Jack honest request please start uploading the videos on patreon as unlisted youtube videos. The videoplayer that patreon uses is honestly pure garbage. I play the video at 360p and still the video lags like hell while the youtube player can easily play videos at 1000p and plus.

Jay

Aware

kiddo

So keep in mind its in the past so some peoples ranks are different. Aokiji, Akainu, Kizaru. those are all code names. Aokiji's real name is kuzan. Also a reminder that Saul isnt actually from elbaf. great reactions as always.

zip529

offer hugs to the jack

nick bunston

I've been waiting for this moment since you started reacting to OP 🥲

Martina

Haven't watched yet but that thumbnail already made my day :')

Uryuri

JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!! HUGS!!!!

Jessica Sutherland

Can't wait to watch this when I come Back from the Gym xD

Profi206
