L played his hand perfectly and still lost due to outside interference that was outside of his control. If it wasn’t for rem, L would have found out that the 13 day rule was fake and have the evidence point back to light and misa again. I’m ok with it because this show is a metaphor for life, you can plan perfectly and still lose
