2021-05-18 19:41:32 +0000 UTCThe bottom line is Sarada deserted along with Boruto. Shikadai was following orders even after he chose to go with them. He also took on a leadership role. While she is more than qualified she still disobeyed orders and acted emotionally while Shikadai analyzed the situation and determined the best course of action something Sarada did not due and she even asked him at one point what they should do when Boruto was unconscious. So I think that why Shikadai was promoted instead.
