It took me well past my first watch to have any real appreciation for Rossiu. He kept on making pragmatic "logical" decisions in a world powered by fighting spirit and love, and was continually made the fool for doing so. Those logical decisions matter in the real world. In this world, logic gets continually punched in the face by a man in a flying robot with wacky sunglasses. He played his own part in the systems of oppression we keep seeing in this world; from the elder of his village, to Lordgenome, and seemingly the Anti-spirals as well. It's all people in power oppressing and harming others "for the greater good", and being fought back against by the hope that better things are possible. Rossiu solidified how much the show rejects that sort of cynicism, or the right of a leadership to sacrifice their populace. A different show might spend much more effort trying to make his choices into a grey area, this show outright rejects his prior worldview and chooses to frame him fully in the wrong.
