Yeah it's kinda just a sports thing. A lot of athletes claim to have reached a state where they zone out all distraction and are in tune with their physical body at a heightened level. It's one of those neat "anime" feeling things when you hear about it. But it is based in at least superstition if not necessarily scientific fact.
