2025-10-19 23:16:54 +0000 UTCThis is from Chinese Umamusume fans and translated into English. It should give some more background to the story. Kitahara Jō: This character is based on Oguri Cap's first team, which included his owner, Kōichi Oguri; his trainer, Shōji Washimi; and his jockey, Katsumi Andō. After a victory in the Chukyo Cup, Oguri Cap demonstrated a level of skill unheard of in regional racing, attracting high expectations from all quarters. Many people made offers to purchase him. However, due to owner Kōichi Oguri's deep attachment, he was consistently unwilling to sell. The issue was that Oguri himself was not a qualified central horse owner with the Japan Racing Association (JRA), which delayed Oguri Cap's transfer to the central circuit. Ultimately, to give the horse he regarded as a son a bigger stage, Kōichi Oguri sold Oguri Cap to the central JRA owner Isao Sahashi for 20 million yen. He made two requests: that Oguri Cap be returned if he couldn't adapt to the central racing environment, and that his name, "Oguri Cap," never be changed. A year after Oguri Cap's transfer, Kōichi Oguri obtained his JRA horse owner license. Oguri Cap's younger sister, Oguri Roman, would go on to win an Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) championship for him. When Oguri Cap's move to the central circuit was announced, his trainer, Shōji Washimi, was greatly displeased, feeling it had shattered his dream of winning the Tokai Derby. For Washimi, who treasured Oguri Cap, it was a profound betrayal. He even refused to be in the commemorative photo after Oguri Cap's last victory at Kasamatsu Racecourse. Nevertheless, he attended nearly every one of Oguri Cap's races after his transfer to the JRA. Oguri Cap's main jockey during his regional racing days was Katsumi Andō, known as the "Genius of Nagoya," who is the primary inspiration for the character Kitahara. Thirteen years after Oguri Cap moved to the central league, Andō, at the advanced age of 43, also earned his JRA jockey license, but the horse and rider were never able to partner again. (At the time, Andō was renowned for his brilliantly unorthodox techniques and frequently defeated strong JRA horses in exchange races. Consequently, even though he later failed the written portion of the central license exam, the JRA introduced the special "Andō Rule" to allow him to become a JRA jockey.) He partnered with the great sprinter Durandal (nicknamed 'Holy Sword') to win the Sprinters Stakes, won the Takamatsunomiya Kinen with Believe, and secured two of the Triple Tiara crowns with Buena Vista. He also achieved many G1 victories as the jockey for Daiwa Scarlet, Daiwa Major, and King Kamehameha, making him a familiar figure to Umamusume fans. (He also rode Victoire Pisa and was notably defeated three times by the legendary Orfevre.) Bellno Light: The prototype for this character is Masaru Miwa, Oguri Cap's farrier during his regional racing days. Although Miwa had no experience working in the central circuit, Oguri Cap suffered from numerous hoof problems and had a unique running form. Because of this, the new owner insisted that Miwa move to the JRA along with Oguri Cap. His unique hoof-trimming methods were crucial in preventing Oguri Cap from sustaining injuries that could have resulted from his powerful and unusual running style.
