Just out of nowhere we get the sudden twist that our MC is FAR more than he let on, suddenly taking action in a very uncharacteristic way and logging into the Dollars site. He's confident and decisive in this moment, something we haven't exactly seen much of before. He's so confident that he doesn't even hesitate to ask Izaya and Celty, two of the most infamous people in the entire city, to cooperate with him. Despite his outside appearance, something about him is convinced he is at their level. It's also a fun fakeout because usually viewers assume the story is leading up to him joining, when the truth is that he's already a member. Makes you wonder how many other characters are hiding things like this. I also love how even Izaya wasn't entirely sure until then. He suspected the truth and that's probably why he was interested in Mikado, but he genuinely didn't know until this exact second.
