One of my absolute favorite moments is when Maomao suggests bringing her father into the Rear Palace as the doctor for the delivery. In the way Maomao is, she leads with the good but tells them the "raw facts" that he is a criminal. Which of course is going to be a red flag for Hongniang immediately. But Gyoukyou knows Maomao very well at this point and gets them both to relax before it can get heated. The level of respect Gyoukyou has for Maomao's logical thinking and opinion is so high that she doesn't even hesitate to accept her recommendation, regardless of the circumstances behind his history. But my absolute favorite line in the sequence is between Hongniang and Maomao. When Hongnian is just playing the part of Head Lady-in-Waiting and uncompromisingly protects Lady Gyoukyou (and her future child)... but Maomao bites back with "He's the best Doctor in this COUNTRY!" Coming from Maomao... praise like that is absolutely insane. She is such a cold, rationally thinking person that saying "He's the best in the country" with absolutely no hesitation and such passion could ONLY mean that it's true, in the eyes of the people who actually know her. She would not just idly throw praise around like that. She thinks everything through without bias and then conveys the "matter of fact truth". But there was no thinking, no hesitation, just an absolute statement on pure instinct. You can tell Hongniang didn't even know how to really respond to that kind of response from Maomao.

(After all... Maomao was born within the same twelve months after Luomen was banished from the Rear Palace.) - 1:07:18: That with Fengxian (Maomao's mom) and Lakan is correct, yes. Noone publicly knows that Lakan married specifically her nor in what kind of condition she is in. Some notable episode staff trivias in connection with the Pokémon anime: Episode 14 was once more storyboarded and directed by Jun Owada, the former second director of Pokémon Journeys a few years ago. Episode 15 was directed by Misu Yamaneko, founder (and leader) of animation and game development company Alunite with assistant direction by Limthong Chidphong and Yo Akatsuki... just like Episode 61 (Roy vs Ryme Part 1 over here) of Pokémon Horizons.
