Saga of Tanya the Evil Episode 1 REACTION

It's time to start this! From one military anime to another, I always wanted to see an Aoi Yuuki voiced Nazi loli committing war crimes.

Saga of Tanya the Evil Episode 1 REACTION

Comments

The german translation of the manga is "Tanya the evil - Die Kriegsgeschichte eines kleinen Mädchen" (tanya the evil - the warstory of a little girl) I started to read the english manga, but decided to switch to the german translation, because it makes more sense for a story that takes place in germany. (and german manga are much cheaper (usually 7€-9€ per volume, compared to 12€-15€ for the english ones)

There is also an OVA in addition to the movie

so i find the title "Saga of Tanya the "EVIL" kinda misleading i think the original title "Youjo Senki" could be translete to "The Military Chronicles of a Little Girl" who make mores sense i would classify her more as a Lawful Evil, but as you progress this will make more sense when you discover her motivations,

So little bro is basically saying that nazi doesn't mean nazi anymore. I get his point.

FluidDruid

yooooooo i had forgotten about this

As a german person you get a hard disagree from me We very much reserve the word for people who actually follow the that specific "Culture" of WWII national socialism Using the word Nazi the way you describe it is very unhealthy for the entire online space as it plays down the role of actual national socialism while unnecessarily putting people that have nothing to do with it in a wrong light

So as others have already stated, Tanya isn't a Nazi. This is based more on WWI, and her personal doctrine is nothing at all like that of the Nazi party. That being said, it's a very easy thing to get confused starting out, and honestly, without the context of the novels they're based on, some things in this anime can be a bit confusing. That said, something you'll learn quickly about Tanya is that she is ruthless and pragmatic, and incredibly intelligent. She isn't really evil in the common way we would use it, and in fact the Japanese title of the series is probably a less biased titled ("Military Chronicles of a Little Girl"). You'll understand more after episode 2, and I look forward to your reaction, as I greatly enjoyed your reaction to Girls und Panzer, which is another of my favourite anime. I'm sure some of your audience will also be happy to fill in any gaps that the anime has in it as a result of not being able to go into the same detail as the novels.

Holy cope😂 No one nowadays calls people nazis and refers to ww2 nazis, whole point is that she bends rules, finds justifications for war crimes, murdering civilians and is an immoral, evil person. That’s enough to call her a nazi loli, regardless if it applies or not

Cyber_JokerWTF

The title is a bit misleading. I wouldn't call Tanya evil per se. If you call her evil, you would probably have to call me evil as hell. She doesn't do anything I wouldn't do in her place. Isekai part coming next episode, then everything will be much clearer. By the way, there are no Nazis in the show, but a weird mix of mostly WW1 with some WW2 elements and a few sprinkles of Cold War mixed in.

Greybeard

I know, tell that to him

ElectricAnt

🤦‍♂️ has nothing to do with nazis.

Andrew shultz

>Nazi Yeah I think I'll pass on this reaction

ElectricAnt

Nice, one of my favorite isekai! Also, i could have sworn that Tanya was already part of Isekai Quartet Season 1... but maybe i'm remembering it wrong. Also, there are zero Nazis in this anime. The Empire that Tanya is fighting for is modeled after Imperial Germany (Kaiserreich in German), that lasted until the end of the World War 1 in our world. So no Nazis.

MrGaldor123

Oh interesting, I don't remember her at all. Then again it's been over 5 years since I've seen it...

Mat

Aoi Yuki has so much range, crazy that she's done Tanya to Madoka to Hibiki and more.

RomWasTaken

Tanya isn't a nazi and never did anything that would make her one. It's a stupid overdone meme shared by brainlets, just like Zoro being racist. That aside, there are WWII elements as well, so it's more accurate to call this setting WWI,V I guess.

FluidDruid

Except for Tanya ;D

Cyber_JokerWTF

Tanya IS in season 1 of isekai quartet

Enrique Barloco

Ah yes, welcome to not WWI. I actually forgot the first episode was a cold open, it actually does feel kind of awkward in same ways, but if someone didn't like the first episode, they wouldn't like the rest anyway.

Szalhi

Ya the first episode is a bit confusing if you're expecting a typical isekai 1st episode. Quick comment about the title. "Saga of Tanya the Evil" is the English name. The original Japanese title actually translates to "The Military Chronicles of a Little Girl". So her actually being "Evil", well, that's up to an individual's interpretation of what is and isn't evil, I guess. What ISN'T up to interpretation is that she's a certified badass. I am so hyped to watch this show again. Also, yes, Tanya is voiced by Aoi Yuki. Easily one of my top 3 JP VAs of recent memory. Her range is insane. Tanya, Maomao from Apothecary Diaries, Tsuyu from MHA, Madoka from Madoka (duh), Hibiki from Symphogear, Diane From 7DS, Lucy from Edgerunners, Clementine from Overlord, and so many more.

Kelven

Important note: This is based on WWI not WWII so no na*is
