Kabuki (Mayoi Jiangshi), Oni (Shinobu Time), and Shinobu Mail all take place in that order at the same time as Neko Shiro (Tsubasa Tiger). Kabuki just goes up to the first day of school (since most of it takes place in the past, alternate world etc.) so still at the very beginning of Neko Shiro, then the events of Oni happen where Gaen asks Koyomi to help her with a job and introduce Kanbaru to her. Therefore he asks Kanbaru to meet him. (In Neko Shiro you see Kanbaru ask Hanekawa about the text message he sent). Now this arc follows, still taking place parallel to the events of Neko Shiro. The reason Shinobu isn't with him currently is because the Darkness split up their bond (which is also why Shinobu was alone in Araragi's room in Neko Shiro). Nisioisin gave A LOT of indicators so that the audience could know FOR SURE exactly where in relation to shiro it is taking place, the fire being the most obvious big flashy event
