Great reaction as always! The movie doesnt do a great job at portraying that SHirou loses a part of himself to the arm every time he uses it (like parts of his memories). Towards the end he turned into a sword more and more. Projecting something like Excalibur to destroy the Grail would have probably succeeded, but also killed him (that is the other ending to the Heavens Feel route, Illya doesn't show up and Shirou dies destroying the Greater Grail. It's super sad as we see a little epilogue from Sakura's point of view). Also you mostly got the ending (i find it's pretty confusing in the movie). Illya used a lesser version of Heavens Feel to save Shirou's soul, which Rin and Sakura somehow recovered. Then they had a character from Garden of Sinners make a puppet body and put his soul in it. That puppet is so impossibly good that Shirou is basically back. I personally don't really like this ending, as Sakura basically just gets off without any consequences, but eh. Good thing in this ending is we get Rider in a casual outfit :D I think Rider is just Sakura's familiar after the Holy Grail War, just like Saber was Rin's in UBW's Good Ending. Even if Rule Breaker broke that bond as well (and I kinda think maybe Shirou managed to "target" it towards the bond Sakura had with Angra Mainyu) they could still make a familiar contract afterwards. And Sakura has (I believe) a ton of Magic Circuits, so she can in principle support a Servant on her own like Rin ( maybe also with mana top offs from Shirou)

2024-12-31 11:45:56 +0000 UTCYou're basically correct with regards to Shirou at the end, Illya used Heaven's Feel to stop his soul from moving on, and they put it in that birdcage thing Sakura was holding when they went to that shop. That shop and the character they pass on the way to it, connect this ending to Kara no Kyoukai. You'll learn more when you get to watching Kara no Kyoukai. Illya once again not getting that happy ending, but she still has her own series though so see you in Prisma Illya. Looking forward to you meeting the whole Prisma cast. Most people say Rider and Saber Alter (the name for evil Saber) is the best fight in Fate, and it's hard to argue. I love the comeback here, Rider being such a badass after getting smoked in the first movie, even you talking about how bad she was, surprise it's all because Shinji sucks. In UBW she gets no love either, so it's great to see her at full potential. I like this Rin way more than UBW Rin, I imagine if Shirou wasn't the main character and therefore the one that HAS to save Sakura, they would have let Rin do it instead, that just makes a lot of sense. Looking forward to Apocrypha, but don't expect any real ties to Stay Night or Zero, it's essentially an alternate timeline. I would not specifically recommend the old F/SN anime, it's fine but old. But it's also not a clean route adaptation, they put some bits of the other routes in there, maybe for VN fans since they didn't know if they could ever have a full animated UBW or Heaven's Feel route back then. Similarly I love Fate/EXTRA, with that Saber being one of my favorite characters in all of Fate, but I can't really recommend the anime there either, since it's not a real adaptation. But hey if you happen to like RPGs they are remaking the Fate/EXTRA game and it's supposed to come out in 2025.

Due to her conflicting emotions about being an ideal mage she allowed herself to stall for a bit in order to give Shirou a chance to save Sakura. The sword Rin is using isn't as broken as they made it seem, each strike was damaging her muscles and putting a huge strain on her. Once she was at her limit Rin decided to finish the fight.

Rin and Sakura kept it, until the redhead who walks past Rin and Sakura in the alley (a character from Kara no Kyoukai) - created a puppet body for the soul to be put in. He's not just a puppet, though. He can still eat, shit and feel things. He IS Shirou, in all the ways that matter.
