Even if Stephan didn't say the words "thank you" directly I believe his speech to Chris in which he said he could only save her because she saved him heavily implies a thank you. I really like the idea of girls practicing doing unisons in any combination. It makes sense that their enemies would try to separate Shirabe and Kirika with how naturally unison comes with their relics so it's great that they were prepared for the possibility. And it also opens the door to unusual pairs/duets like Maria and Chris in this episode.

But I think it's fine to do them normally, we watched it airing week to week after all originally, so no need to push yourself unless you really just can't take the cliffhangers, you've seen how the show did previous season finales.
