The reason why there was that brief shot of trigonometric functions is because Tadetsuru, Kagenui and Ononoki's first names can literally be translated to sine, cosine, and cotangent repectively. Sine is opposite over hypotenuse, cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse, and cotangent is adjacent over opposite. It just shows that there is some close connection between these three.
