Monogoatari typically expects the viewer to look past the surface level of things anyways, but in this arc it is especially important. Let's put our meta hats on and ask why the author includes things the way he does. Why does he KEEP bringing up some form of tender feelings between Kaiki and Senjou since Nise? Why does Senjou stipulate to Araragi in Bake that "she's never broken up with a boy", not that she's never had a bf? Why does Senjou's voice falter, which you seemed to pick up on, when she declares that she hates Kaiki? Why does the author insert a monologue from Yotsugi recontextualizing Kaiki's past actions towards Senjou? Why would Kaiki go through the trouble rationalizing a reason to help someone who should ostensibly just be some victim of his for no profit? This isn't to say that the feelings between the two are the polar opposite of what you think and that you're so wrong! Just that there may be more tender sentiment between the two than they would like to admit. It could be that he's just telling the story a certain way to deceive us into thinking he's more of a nice guy than he really is. Could also be that he just says that to obfuscate from his earnest sentiments sort of like how he plays off Ononoki's interpretation of his past actions with a similar ironic tone. The dynamic interpretations of the arc is why Hitagi End is so peak!

Kaiki is still the man who came to her rescue, and who still did after so long, who, as we've seen from their interactions, has fun chemistry together even after a few years apart. This is why she's adamant to stay loyal to Araragi, to put up a front, to try and sever her relationship with Kaiki entirely despite her own feelings, for Koyomi's sake, she's severing a part of her self and her past.
