FIRST LOVE SONG https://youtu.be/w5Q2CCz_GOs Yes this was a show made with passion, a stellar voice cast, and a limited budget. Then starting with season 2 they get so much more budget to put polish on it, quality is going to jump hugely.

2024-11-03 17:33:38 +0000 UTCYa know, if any series could kill off all of it's main fighters in the first season, and go on with new main characters to tell that same story, and still be great, that would be just about the most revolutionary anime ever. Especially really well liked characters getting deaths that were either super appropriate or unthinkably shocking. I used to wish for that sort of storytelling when I was I was a little kid. All of those Saturday Morning Cartoons got to me, made me start thinking, "But, what if something happened that actually mattered?" Every week, the same people fought the same other people or faces of evil, yet nothing actually changed or had lasting effects. I thought that was really boring. I'd spend car rides staring into the clouds, imagining "What Ifs" of the most popular cartoons. At with anime, shite can get really af.

2024-11-03 17:32:07 +0000 UTCAs far as Chris's fate after taking that blast, I would have been super damn impressed and enamored with this series if they had taken the "bad girl turns good girl turns martyr" route. Far, faaaar too few animes/light novels are willing to kill off a prominent character, when there are times that such an event would tell the story in the best way. When I see a protag or good side character beat death over and over, I stop giving a damn. When bad shite happens, heroes and innocents can and will die quite often. Even when it hurts like he'll, show me that there was a cost for these victories, for the survivors left behind.

One sych version goes that Man built and built, reaching too high close to Heaven/the heavens, thus God/the Gods struck down the Tower with a lightning strike, and all of the people in the Fall were struck unable to understand each other. Thus, mmany languages have been a ultimate barrier between Man. Something like that.
