It's clear that they loved each other, and Kanade was an easy focus for Tsubasa to aspire to emulate. Now, she has lost her partner, her loved one, her teammate who helped her protect the world. That is a LOT to lose and dwell on by herself.

Like, I have clicked and followed so many SAO topics and channels, I regularly see birthday posts and even wedding announcements of characters, things the anime sure as fuck did not explain. Like Date A Live. That anime gets lots of deep tissue massages by the studio and creators, putting out all the info they can from the LNs, which reinforces affection for the fans' favorite characters.
