I watched the original many many years ago, so I barely remember anything in it!

25:20 I believe Lawrence telling Holo to be open and honest is emblematic of the growth of their relationship. He has learned to speak his mind and to be straightforward, while she has come to believe that he will truly listen and not abandon her. Something like that. Mat, I think you would actually enjoy watching the '08 anime sometime. Sure, it's basically the same exact show, but it is very different in impact, aesthetics, delivery, pacing and such. I checked out a scene just yesterday, and the contrast in art styles blew me away, after all the years.

Yeah, salt and bread have been a blessing or welcoming rite for many cultures around the world. I know in my circles, we share bread to connect with the land, and we offer each other bread to share the bounty of our vitality with those not from the area. Shaking salt is just a luxurious offering, since salt was always one of the most valuable ingredients in the history of Man. If you can share your salt, you are living a successful existence, basically.

Btw, Mat, I forget. You never saw the '08 S&W, right? This arc is not even hinted at in that version, and that I'd so disappointing. I am eating this up!. I am Pagan and I love theological discourse. The '08 S&W cuts straight from beating that little shite with the pyrite gambling to, what I think, is the next arc, in the next big town. The studio must have really though the average anime watcher wouldn't give a damn about this stuff, but, beside the bird lady, this is some of my favorite content of the series. I had heard that this Remake was gonna "go further" than the original, but I suppose that meant the cut stuff. This season is looking to end just about where the original season 2 stopped.

16:25 I took so many screenshot of this season, especially this episode. There are just too damn many adorable or sincere moments with these two. I'll probably end up with a desktop background slideshow of S & W eventually. 😁

It is a hoot that, @8:15, you were asking the questions that this episode later specifically addresses. IRL, much of pre-Xtian/Pagan faiths got absorbed be the Church, usually taking on the names of local gods and goddess to be spoken of as saints and priests, etc. Many of the "Saint's days" of the Catholic Church are just named from pagan deities that were worshipped in areas that needed time to adjust to "the faith." These days, a bunch of Xtians and Pagans accept that multiple/all kids are real. They may be adviserial or just in conflict with each other, but "the heavens have plenty of room," so to speak. I am of the mind that gods, at least partially, exist in the role of the "created." My Earth Mother and my Goddess of Chaos don't negate anyone else's god or goddess, theoretically.
