2024-07-02 12:33:02 +0000 UTCAlso, the manga....I haven't read/looked at too much of it, but the one word I can use full tilt for it is "bonkers " Best exemplified by Gigguk's video on the 100 Girlfriends series, where he discusses one of the future wives. Sure, a wee spoiler, but I am 101% glad I saw his example, rather than save the reveal for later. The mangaka blatantly ignores sensibility, and uses a bullshite, irreverent premise to beautifully show what our boy Chadtaro will do for someone he loves. Something I've yet to come across in any other manga. He decides that a linear set of manga panels means nothing if he means to save someone. I suggest you watch Gigguk's amazing video asap, not that you've gotten through the anime. 100 ladies, and Rentaro is going to fully, endlessly love every single one of them. Who tf can say that's not just delightful?

2024-07-02 12:32:39 +0000 UTCSo, jist watched the video. I forgot....that I would tear up by the end of episode 1. Now, sure, thus series is the epitome of "ridiculous." It is off the wall, nonsensical, ludicrous, and uncanny, as well as 92.4% comedy. However, having seen the anime, and looking at a bit of the manga, I KNOW how insanely wholesome and precious, and occasionally heartbreaking, this story is. As I've said in other comments, I am polyamourous. That means that conventional romance in contemporary media mostly excludes my ideals. So, when something even 1/10th passable comes through, I have to take what I can get. Even anime, the despicable trope of "harem" is often an abomination and a lie, for me. 100 Girlfriends didn't need logic or realism. It brought the one must have ingredient for an impeccable dish of romance. HEART.

I prefer darker, more dramatic, life-or-death consequence type stuff. However, as an anime lover AND as a polyamourous person, I ended up thinking 100 Girlfriends was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had watching anime. I know, for a FACT, that you will writhe and guffaw at how much fun this shite is!
