January Short Story - Personal Shopper
Added 2023-01-13 08:08:24 +0000 UTCAlright. I ultimately figured that, since more people get access to the short stories than the wallpapers, I'd lead with that. I'll put the Wallpapers up tomorrow.
As regards this story...it's something of a mental palette cleanser for me. I often get stuck in a loop of feeling I need to write ever more unusual stories. Something I haven't done yet, as it were. But there's only so many combinations of stuff under the sun. And occasionally I have to take a deep breath and pull myself out of the spiral of 'must make only new, amazing, original stuff!'
Personal Shopper is, as a result, a bit simpler/more basic than a lot of the stories I write. Ironically, it's sort of what Andrea of the Silver Key was supposed to be, before that story ran away on me and became something completely different without me asking it to. With some similarities to Tales from Ellen's Sex Shop and a few other bits and bobs I've done here and there.
Hopefully, despite there being no fancy space portals that launch alien cocks as pleasure weapons, Personal Shopper is still enjoyable. I'm happy with the quality, at least, even if part of me would have rather written about the weaponized alien space cocks. The desire to be original is sort of like an itch in my brain that is hard to leave alone, even when I know I need to stop trying to reach it for fear of ripping all my hair out...
