New change to my release process

Hello,

I'll try to go straight to the point: my current release process is being stressful. I have to send links every week, Patreon's filters don't always work as expected, and many people are frustrated because they have to wait until the end of the month to get models even pirates got beforehand.

I decided to change everything again. Now that the Patreon shop is available to me, this opened up a new possibility.

How it will work now for current patrons:

A new model will be released every week. Each Friday, I'll post a link of my latest model to my Patreon shop. Every patron with an active subscription will simply click to buy it, free of charge, and that's it, the model will be added to their Purchases tab. They can download it whenever they want.

I'll centralize my distribution process around Patreon's own store. Yeah, I know theirs isn't the best library, but it makes the release process a lot easier.

Simple enough, isn't it?

For new patrons:

New patrons will get the usual Welcome Pack, now in my Patreon store, and they'll also have access to my four last models. From then on, they'll receive new models on a weekly basis, like everybody else.

And that's it!

For older models:

The problem with Patreon's store is that I can't ban free access of my older models to newcomers. I can set models free for patrons on a given tier, but a newcomer would have free access to models I released six months ago, for example. To avoid this, I'm going to keep only the four newest models free for everybody. When I release a new model, I'll remove the last one's free access.

So be sure to add the new models to your Purchases tab as soon as I release them!

Will it work?

I don't know, but I'm counting on your patience and understanding, once again. I've been thinking about it for a few days already, and it seems like it will solve most of my current troubles with the distribution process. However, new problems always show up when we put our ideas into practice, so I'll try my best to solve the new issues that might arise. And if it's needed, I'll get back to how things are now.

Currently available models:

To kick start the new process, I'm giving all active patrons the links of my currently available models:

Eve (Original character):

Please make sure to add them all to your Patreon Purchases library. Next Friday there will be a new model available to everybody ;)

I hope this works well for everybody, and thank you for your patience.

I'm sorry, what gift, exactly?

Torrida Minis

How do I use the gift I received?

Blue Marron

Regarding Gumroad, last year Paypal suspended their cooperation with them, and since then I've been unable to get my payments from Gumroad. Apparently the Paypal integration has been restored, but my payments are still pending. Now about VS3D and MMF that's a surprise to me. When Tribes was about to open, I got invited by MMF to open a campaign there as well, and in my talks with them, they told me I just wouldn't be able to work with fanart there. I'm curious to know if that changed, or if they just didn't notice VS3D doing it there.

Torrida Minis

I have just been into MMF and searched fanart. I sub to VS3D at the moment and they're in the process of trying to migrate. Their models were the first in the results of my search.

Another option could be to use Gumroad, although not as smooth as MMF. As long as you don't have overt pictures or descriptions on the release it is good. Some creators have been banned for not using their brains.

Drkdesignr

I wouldn't mind Tribes taking a bigger share than Patreon, since the service they provide is a lot better for my case, but like I said in the other comments, the biggest problem with MMF is that they don't allow the sale of fanart models there. And since the majority of my models is fanart based, I can't open a Tribes campaign, unfortunately. If I made only originals, I'd already have a presence there, because they invited me when Tribes opened.

Torrida Minis

Well if doing it through Patreon is easier than the Google Drive links then that may be a good option for the time being. I saw someone else suggesting the MyMiniFactory Tribes as an option other 3d model makers have gone over to, I'm not sure if their percentages are worse but I know a lot of the mini makers I use here have long used MMF for their file storage and most have a MMF tribes as well. I can give you the names of some of the Mini makers I follow so you may be able to strike up a conversation and see what the reality of MMF is.

The Weezel

Again, there's nothing I would like more than using MMF as my main distribution hub. The problem, though, is that most of my work is fanart, and this kind of model isn't welcome there, in case I want to sell them :( I would only be able to post my originals there, but they are the minority of my release, so I'd need another alternative for the rest of my models anyway. Unless things changed and I'm not aware of it.

Torrida Minis

Perfect. Thank you.

Mebert

Would it be possible to use mmf as the library and distribution? I sub to OPR through patreon and they release their miniatures by sharing them through MMf. I also sub to artisan guild through their website, and they make their sculpts available through mmf the following month.

Meatpupp3t

Thank you!

Torrida Minis

Last month's release, such as Quorra and Dawn, have a price tag because they aren't the current release models. It's just like it used to be: older models are available for purchase in my shops. I can provide a discount code. However, the download issues are concerning. I had no trouble with the items I bought from other shops, so I'm hoping this is just a temporary issue from Patreon. My main concern now, though, is whether you guys will be able to keep the models after I set them for paid, because apparently there's no option of adding them to the library. Perhaps I'll have to keep using Itch.io as my main library, and keep the Patreon links just for those who want to quickly download my models without having a Itch.io login or something.

Torrida Minis

Yes, I'd love to migrate to Tribes, but MMF's own staff told me they don't allow the sales of fanart models there, that's why I have to remain on Patreon :(

Torrida Minis

You'll still have access to any models that were released while you were subscribed to me. If you miss them and can't add them in your Patreon library, I also intend to keep sending Itch.io links to people's inbox, which you can use without time constraints. In this sense, it won't be very different from now.

Torrida Minis

Same here. Selecting Quorra just asks me to pay the $11. I do not know if that is the intention, tho.

Fionntan

I'm a new subscriber. Love your work. Thanks for being here.

Happy Camper

Thats the neat part, you don't.

Justin

Ok so here is what I see when I get in to try this. Anything that should be free doesn't have a buy now it has a "Included with Membership" and i can go in and download. However the stuff from last month (Quorra, Dawn, etc) does have a price and a buy now but does not seem to be discounted though I haven't gone all the way through to be certain. Also when I click on one to download it does give me the ability to download but when I try to go to what I assume is my library it comes up as 404. So I am not totally sure that it is adding any items so we can download them after the time is up. If there is any other testing you would like me to try I am up for it but I feel like the Patreon store is not doing what is expected of it.

The Weezel

I hope this works for you. Just thought I'd mention. I know some patreon creators are migrating to myminifactory's tribes. I don't need to do anything (click links, use passwords) when they release a model it just arrives in my library. The trouble is some patrons don't want to move or have trouble.

2urtle

What happens if I miss a week? There are some weeks sometimes up to 3 that I can not access my patreon account. How would I get access to the models released prior to that?

Mebert

Oh, can't you just click the Buy now button? It probably won't charge you anything, because I set it so. And I won't remove the models afterwards, don't worry. I'll just remove their gratuity for patrons. Anybody will be able to purchase them for the standard $11 price after that, which means that those who already added them to their library will keep access to them.

Torrida Minis

Thanks, I'm counting on that. The previous system was giving me constant headaches.

Torrida Minis

They are already in purchases section. Question is will they stay there after removal from the author? πŸ€”

Milos Ivancevic

I'm pretty sure we're all gonna stick with you while all this gets sorted out. Less stress is always better for artists after all

Professor Sinistar

These links don't have a purchase button, should they? 🀞this makes your life simpler.
