Update on May $5 Reward

Just a not-so-quick update/rant on the state of the $5+ reward. Between the initial session with Jaylee and some time I managed to steal while traveling, I've gotten about 3600 words done. With a target of between 5000-6500 words, that puts it in range that it might get finished before the end of the month after all.

The problem is that the guy I'm working with for the new freelance contract I've cited as a lot of my problem...is being a giant dick-face. He keeps telling me he's going to do so-and-so by X date...then I don't even hear from him until AFTER X-date. I'm supposed to be interviewing someone he knows in order to use the information thus obtained for a test article he wants me to write. Which would be the first of several, each aimed at his professional clientele. 

Given that that clientele is mostly made up of CEOs and other high-level executives, it's a fairly lucrative contract for me...or it should have been. I offered to do the first one free, a normal thing for me with cases like this, since it lets me get a feel for what they want without them being annoyed if it doesn't turn out perfect on the first pass. Unfortunately, this whole process should have taken less than a week. It's going to hit it's third week soon, and I'm beyond frustrated and well into genuinely pissed. Enough so that I honestly don't even want to work with the guy anymore, no matter the pay. 

Regrettably, however, I'm stuck having given my professional word that I'd do at least this first article. So...I have no idea when I'm going to be stuck cramming the thing into a schedule that is now royally fucked up. I had reordered my entire schedule to give him the time back when he said it would be needed...but that means that now, all the stuff I pushed off has to be done lest I miss other deadlines. With any of the stuff for him being IN ADDITION to all that stuff I re-shifted just for his benefit.

Long story short, I could, at pretty much any moment, be plunged into a 2-5 day crunch in which I will do nothing but eat sleep and work. Which is why I can't guarantee the reward will get finished in time. If I don't hear from him (and I really hope I don't at this point, at least for a day or two), I'll be able to finish it on time. If I do hear from him? Then who the fuck knows, really! 

Anyway, I figured I owed you lot an apology and an explanation. I know I've mentioned before that I hate it when I miss deadlines for you guys, and it's happened way more often than I would like. Unfortunately, until such a time as this patreon makes up the majority of my income (which would be nice, but obviously doesn't look to happen anytime soon), I simply can't work on the stuff here to the exclusion of my day job stuff. 

So...I'm so sorry if there ends up being a delay! Hopefully this guy will just drop off the face of the earth for a few days or something, and there won't be any problem....
