December Map Poll

December is here which means a whole new map poll! The map archive is live and will be featured at the bottom of each of the poll under the monthly updates so be sure to check that out and poke around through maps you may not have downloaded yet!

Comissions!
My rates on comissions are changing very slightly and I am opening up limited comssions first here to my patrons. so if your game has that one big moment you'd like to do something special for your players and have a custom map for that epic encounter feel free to message me about it either here in a private messege or email me at balatro.dnd@gmail.com
Each comission is handled in the order they are recived and ideally 2 weeks to a month before they are needed.

This month we're taking a look at one of the creatures of Dunwel Fen. In particular highlighting one Inspired by American cryptids and urban legends. In Ida's Guide to Worlds Beyond Our Own is a handful of optional encounters and side adventures should the heroes like to learn more or explore.
Among them are a few Legendary monsters that Call the Magical redwood forest home such as this one, Shallowroot. I wanted to capture the mysticism and mythology that surrounds the myths of cryptids. Shallowroot, an Ent who takes their appearance from a mangrove tree and prowls the many rivers and underbrush packed rocky banks up and down the waterways and can be stumbled upon by mistake or perhaps even spot and then hunt the players during their journey as a wandering threat.

An ancient being like many Tree Ents, the one known as Shallowroot lived for centuries in the lands of Dunwel Fen. Where the veil between life and death is so thin the very rain is permeated by the lost souls of the dead. The waters cursed this way fall and Shallowroot has absorbed them. Now the once proud Ent is overwhelmed with thousands of screaming souls possessing them and vying for control completely inside driving it mad.

Shallowroot was once a respected elder among the Ents of Dunwel but now with countless spirits trapped in their bark, they cannot form conscious thoughts. Their mind is clouded by the chaos of an army of intentions. Now they are reckless, dangerous, and unpredictable. Often they are seen rampaging through the forests along the river’s bank attacking anyone unwise or unlucky enough to come across their path. Madness is ill-suited to the being of such a powerful creature.

The Hush.
Folktales surround The Hush, Those moments when the whole wild woods of Dunwel Fen fall absolutely, and impossibly still. When the stream's brook fails to babble, and the birds have stopped singing. This is the Hush, and it is considered among the most dangerous omens one can come across even in such deeply magical woods.

The truth of the Hush is if one were to explore the area of silence map it out the center is always Shallowroot. Moving through the wood the Ent leaves behind twisted roots, fallen trees, all manner of chaos but never has it made a sound. Among its terrible power is a massive mile wide area of absolute silence which masks its presence making detecting it nearly impossible.

The Hush is the only sign that Shallowroot is near. A common folk saying in Dunwel is "When you walk the woods, always listen for silence."

I really hope the crater gets made eventually I have new campaign starting soon that has the land marked by lots of craters. I can think of quite a few scenarios it would come in handy.
