I appreciate that everyone loves the story so much that they have strong feelings and also that people can relate that to their own lives. Thank you both for taking the time to post your observations and comments.

2023-12-23 01:30:14 +0000 UTChaha. i dont get to travel as much anymore since BAFK 1 and 2 arrived, but when I did, I visited this perfume place in Paris and learned about the people who make perfumes and the insane amount of things they can detect. It was really amazing.

2023-12-23 01:28:15 +0000 UTCYour problem with this that you like your partner to smell the same all the time and a perfume change would completely ruin a subconscious connection you have to them, am I getting this right? This is an insane time to just have this issue because it's been a long standing thing for both Hama and Lylan to buy many types of perfume. This type of thing is actually in their backstory, a few times, but I'm glad that this is just an issue for you now that Ruwen is trying something different.

2023-12-19 03:57:06 +0000 UTCI definitely smelled my past girlfriends and my wife. Sort of hard not to if you're next to them or intimate. Maybe that's something you're unfamiliar with, I don't know. I'm not the one making gross generalizations about people based upon a comment they made that I didn't like. But even picking up a piece of my wife's clothing like a shirt, it's obvious it smells like her. If the smell was different each time, it would be very odd. This is a well known phenomenon. Never once did I ever make the claim that a human couldn't tell the difference between people if they change scents. I did however say people will subconsciously react, and many will perceive something is wrong and may or may not be aware that the scent was the reason.

You can't remember something because they smelled different this is crazy talk commpletely irrational. This was a fun interaction between Ruwen and Hama and it angers you, because the people, in the book we are reading, smell different. I just don't understand the problem you have with this.

Sure humans aren't going to stop recognizing someone and attack them, but they will be affected. And it had nothing to do with hating people. It's an actual thing, people heavily use scent to identify others / associate memories with others. Just because you don't like some of my comments doesn't make it less true, nor does your bias against my ressons invalidate it.

2023-12-18 17:00:57 +0000 UTCChanging scents that much is probably a BAD idea, and you'd think Hamma would know better. People heavily associate scents with memories, specifically tied to memories of people. Changing how you smell actually causes forms of disassociation, and distrust. People will subconsciously think something is wrong. Animals are worse, they will outright not recognize another animal after a scent change. Our cats had fleas and we took them to the vet, and they got a bath... which caused a scent change. The cat's, a brother and sister who had lived together every moment of their lives, and were very close... that changed. This sister didn't recognize her brother and attacked him on site and tried to kill him for a month straight. The brother was so said and who meow loudly outside the room she slept in all night constantly... no one really slept well for a month.
