Ruwen and Hamma are one of my favorite couples I've read lately. Moments like this are really nice to read.

Tyler

It's the chalk, they couldn't get it to stick to the surface due to the desecration. The stones were already destroyed.

Vivid Chance

I really like how messy Ruwens words are when describing his trauma. It makes him feel more real

Wilson Lessley

Another aspect to this emotional issues is the lost potential in the war effort. The whole time they were training I was so excited about how each person in rung four was leading so much. They were going to go home to a war torn planet with new skills that they could each train others in. This would have an impact on the entire war and save many lives. When Ruwen also destroyed/ put in his void band those portal ring things I thought he just changed everything for them. Now all but one of those people are dead. Also now we know that the portal things are a bigger mess for Blappy and others that Ruwen really care about.

“They destroyed out portal stone home and the desecration neutralized our portal chalk.” I think it should be our portal stone right?

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!

"It truly epic quality tattoo" seems to be missing a few words. Also the wedding band is normally spelt "Jaga" not "Jagga"

Nick O'Roonling

That makes sense. Love the stories you create, have a great day (of hopefully writing the best chapters we’ve ever seen)!

Ben Heggem

Such a great conversation! I think Jeremiah and Casey hit the nail on the head with what I intended. Ben, your argument has a lot of merit regarding the extent of the issues. I have toned that back immensely. In hindsight, three minutes did seem ridiculous. I've changed it to just a few seconds. Kind of like when we zone out as our mind wanders somewhere and focuses on something else. Thank all of you for the great discussion.

Poor Sift. His problems are so big.

A. F. Kay

I believe the intensity comes from the fact that these people cannot be revived and it’s a new concept for him that people so relatively young died permanently as a result of his restraint. He feels massive guilt for that because it’s a new, and hard experience to deal with, especially when you’re from a world where death is an inconvenience rather than the true end. As the cultivators told Ruwen many times before, the ascended have lost the value of life, and he has just learned that lesson the hard way as he watched a group of people he took under his wing and mentored, sharing their burdens while watching and helping them grow as masters and future protectors of their world, cut down in front of him. He hasn’t truly lost someone permanently before, and he is only about 18 with the burdens of the entire universe on his shoulders. I’m surprised it’s taken this long for some sort of mental break.

Casey Connelly

He's never really lost anybody to true death this is the first time. He's had a couple of scares with sift and then a scare with Hama but he's never put so much effort into people to have it completely blown away. He will again for sure but this is really the first time

Jeremiah Halstead

Am I crazy in thinking what happened was nearly as bad as it’s being made to seem? He’s lost people before and will likely lose many more people in the wars to come. He did grow close to them, but he knew them for a week. It’s not like his family was slaughtered or something, this emotional scarring is extremely excessive

Ben Heggem

Oh yeah, there should be progress but there should also be some lasting scarring that's slow to heal I think

Jeremiah Halstead

I understand him working through it but blacking out and not being able to talk is extreme to the illogical for this I think

Ben Heggem

I think that Ruwen should have to deal with this from time to time throughout the book. That dairy of crippling guilt and regret won't just be resolved l like this. I'm not saying he should mope for the book but he should deal with it progressively I think anyway

Jeremiah Halstead

Oh it'll certainly be Blapy and his parents wanting to talk with him. The rest will be food-related!

Christoph

Haha!

A. F. Kay

Of those ten problems are eight about his pastries or would that be nine?
