February 12, 2022 - Update
Added 2022-02-12 07:15:09 +0000 UTCHello!
This week found me continuing to adjust to my new job and recovering from being sick. Story wise, I’m trying to find the balance between the story elements I think are important and detailing the progression of our friends. I really wish, and you will too, I’m sure, that I could have gotten the next couple of chapters written for this week. Oh well, you have something to look forward to for next week. ; )
I’ve been thinking about taking the Clifton Strengths assessment to gain some insights into myself and my writing process. If you’ve taken it, and feel comfortable sharing, leave a comment and tell me what you thought. I have a terrible habit of comparing myself to other authors, specifically their productivity and word output, and it causes me a lot of frustration. I know the easy answer is to just not look/listen/compare, but that is harder than it sounds, as the information is everywhere. My hope is that by taking this assessment, I’ll discover some insights that will help me with this. If I take it, I’ll let you know the outcomes.
I’ve opened up chapter 45 to Root.
I’ve opened up chapters 46 and 47 to Harvester.
I’ve added chapters 48 and 49 to Step Master, Blapy’s Favorite, and Divine.
Enjoy!
Thank you for supporting this story. This was yet another week where the only reason the story continued was because of you.
Take care,
AFK

Great advice! That sucks about the other author. I hope he can find the support he needs. Writing is difficult. I'm lucky to have all you here motivating me. Thanks so much!

2022-02-19 08:08:37 +0000 UTCThank you so much Adam and Jude, and all the rest of you who silently agree. It means a lot to me that you all support this story. Thanks again.

2022-02-19 08:08:08 +0000 UTCVery true. I havent taken it yet, but I'm hoping it can help me let go of some of my bad behaviors. Realizing I am beating myself up for things that happen to be a weakness would allow me to be kinder to myself I think. We are all our own worst enemy sometimes.

2022-02-19 08:05:56 +0000 UTCTake any test you're interested in, and any path that you think would lead to bettering yourself in your own eyes. Identify that which others have and you feel you lack, and harvest it unapologetically. Discard that which doesn't resonate with you. That's my take, anyway. You could suddenly emulate the best authors in history, and I'd still lose interest because you gave up on being you.

2022-02-13 16:51:37 +0000 UTCTotally agree; being kind to yourself is highly underrated. We'd rather have quality over quantity, along with knowing that there is no pressure to keep churning out stuff, that just takes all the joy out of it for everyone. After all if you are stressed out about things its going to affect the quality and your health, its a vicious cycle. I only joined recently and I'm very happy with the quality and frequency of updates :)

2022-02-12 18:19:46 +0000 UTCGlad to hear things are going well in the new job! I think your writing pace/output is already really good! You’re faster than many other famous authors! You might not write as fast as say Brandon Sanderson, but you seem to be churning out content faster than others in similar genre like Andrew Rowe or Aleron Kong… and you are WAY faster than folks like Patrick Rothfuss and George R.R. Martin… I’d recommend just focusing on making a great story and forget about worrying how long that process takes! “Journey before Destination” and all that :)

2022-02-12 11:50:23 +0000 UTCAF Kay sleep is over rated I am sure if you eliminated those 8 hours you could have so many more chapters teasing of course it’s a quality vs quantity question. Not to drop names because I won’t each other writes at there own pace I found your first book two years after reading another first book you are working on book 6 and the other author is still working on book 2 tell the story tell itself through you.
