I have a lot of nervous energy tonight. Book five is making its way into the wild, and I hope everyone else enjoys the story as much as we did.
My intent was to not release anything tonight and start fresh next Saturday. As you can see, that plan didn't happen. Prologues are hard this early in the story because I'm usually not positive what piece of the wider universe needs to be told. In this case, however, I knew exactly what I wanted to be shown.
I'm not sure how I feel about the result, but this is a rough draft after all, so I decided to show you a week early.

Thank you for telling me. I'm glad you can tell the difference. The Patreon is a second draft. The final is a third draft after about four proofers get to it. So it is much more polished. I'm glad the hard work is noticeable.

2021-10-09 13:52:23 +0000 UTCI love the stuff you've been doing lately where we get snippets of the story from other characters' perspectives. Your characters have always been the strongest pieces of your writing to me and you're very, very good at making them super interesting. It's also really interesting to me to see Sift's impact becoming more and more clear on the story. He starts out as this incredible powerhouse/guide and slowly dims in the mid story as the others' growth eclipses his. It's tough being the only guy who can't level up. His growth was more subtle until book 5 when he hit his huge boom, and now we're seeing further evidence of just how special he really is. I think it's very common in many books (especially litrpg) where the side characters get so eclipsed by the MC that they appear more like set pieces and less like living, breathing, important people as the story goes on. The effort you put in to showing that Ruwen's companions are not only relevant and important, but they would have been relevant, important, and strong even without Ruwen. They're amazing characters in their own right with their own stories going on too, and you do such an incredible job of binding these narratives together where they support one another and grow together, and their lives and goals don't just stop. Again, thanks for letting us come along for the ride and experience this with you, and for all the love and hard work you put into your craft!
