September 25, 2021 - Update
Added 2021-09-25 07:08:29 +0000 UTCHi!
I took a couple of days off this week, so I didn't get the third draft done. I think I'll finish today though. Then I'll send it off to the proofers to find the things we all missed.
Travis reached out to me about the audio, and I told him we are on track for mid October. There is still a chance I'll release early, fingers crossed.
The length of this book sits between Shade's First Rule and Uru's Third temple at around 115k. I just realized the 'odd' number books are my shortest, while the even books that start with 'the' are the longest. I guess that means book six should be a long one.
I even have a title in my head that won't leave me alone. Since I don't have all the beats figured out for book six it doesn't even make sense to have a title. Usually the title comes to me late in a book. The title that won't leave me alone is: The Sixth Rune.
One problem I have with this title is that it leads me down the road of revealing a secret I hadn't expected to release for a few more books. However, my subconscious is working against me, as the epilogue of book five sheds (a little) more information on the third secret. Maybe I'll talk a little more about the epilogue next week. It does a lot.
Speaking of the third secret, I am almost certainly going to need to add the xray feature. As I completed the third draft, the prologue especially, had a ton of names and references that most people will have forgotten.
I think I'll need to put an author's note right at the beginning of the prologue telling people about the xray feature and pointing them to the website for summaries. How did this world get so big and complicated? Remember when Ruwen just wanted to shoot fireballs and strut around in a Mage robe? Oh, the good old days.
Anyway, enough of all that.
I opened up chapters 48, 49, and 50 to Root.
I opened up chapters 51, 52, 53, and 54 to Harvester.
I added chapters 55, 56, 57, and 58 to Step Master, Blapy's Favorite, and Divine.
Enjoy!
I spent some time in nature this weekend and it helped refocus my thoughts. I feel immense gratitude for you. Thank you so much for supporting Divine Apostasy.
Take care,
