Brandon Sanderson, in his free youtube writing classes, says you shouldn't save cool things for other books, and that you should pack as much as you can into your current story. I've taken that advice to heart and always try to add as much wonder as I can.
This creates an issue though, as I'm also feeling the pressure that always arrives as I near the end of a book. I don't want to get everyone's expectations up, but I do think the end of this book is awesome, and I'm fairly close to writing it.
So, <no spoilers> Ruwen was going to handle his current situation in a fairly straightforward manner. But, the story demanded one more small complication. Then, when having lunch with a buddy, he said something that had never occurred to me, and it amped up what I wanted to do in a big way.
Now, this idea could wait, and at first, that is what I planned. After all, I have to get this book finished. Then I thought about Sanderson's advice.
So, next week's chapters will have this amped up complication. And the book will be a chapter or two longer than I anticipated. But you can never go wrong with wonder, and I have to admit, this is pretty cool.
I opened up chapters 50. 51. and 52 to Root.
I opened up chapters 53, 54, and 55 to Harvester.
I added chapters 56 and 57 to Step Master, Blapy's Favorite, and Divine.
