Book three is nearing completion. Because of its structure, many of the notifications built up, and I am still in the middle of dealing with them all. Which has made me think a lot about the LitRPG genre.
LitRPG takes writing to a completely different level of difficulty, and this last week has slapped me in the face with that fact. This genre still requires all the things other books need to succeed, but in addition, weaved throughout the entire story, are other quantifiable values that add incredible complexity. This complexity gives LitRPG stories the depth many of us love, but the work required makes the books vastly harder to write. I look at the Epic Fantasy and Progression genres and think how much easier those stories are to complete.
Even so, I wouldn't change anything about this series. Telling it this way does it justice, even if my spreadsheets keep multiplying as the world building expands.
Enough complaining. As Ky would say, "I only have myself to blame."
I opened up chapters 37, 38, and 39 to Root.
I opened up chapters 40, 41, and 42 to Harvester.
I added chapters 43, 44, and 45 to Step Master, Blapy's Favorite, and Divine.
I say it every week, but it remains true. You are all critically important to the success of this story, as much of my productivity and drive are fueled by this Saturday deadline and your continued enjoyment of the story. Thank you so much.
Please take care and be safe.
