February 15, 2020 - Update
Added 2020-02-15 07:36:05 +0000 UTCHi, everyone! I know what you really care about is if I'm going to release any chapters today. So, I'll start with that. Luckily for you, my wife is traveling, and so I spent Valentine's Day writing. As soon as I'm done with this post, I'll add the prologue and chapter one.
Just like book two's chapters, these are rough drafts.
Foreshadowing is difficult this early in the writing process, but I still try and do some of it in the first draft. This story is epic in size and it is hard to know how much to foreshadow. Especially in this prologue, I struggled with how much to add. You will be getting a lot. I may dial back the foreshadowing in the final draft. I guess we'll see. I remember a scene from the Hyperion books that blew my mind and made me realize how big an author could go with their story and ideas. I'm no Dan Simmons, but I do have a big imagination, and I've been giving this story all of it. I hope it turns out.
Some housekeeping: I altered the first two tiers. Ascended now get access to early information like book covers and artwork. Root now gets access to chapters from book three onward, a week after Harvester and two weeks after Step Master. For example, I will release chapters to Step Master today, Harvester will get access to those same chapters on February 22, and Root will see them on February 29th.
So as everyone knows, The Second Betrayal released this week. I'll keep it short and just say this week has been distracting and I got very little writing on book three done. I hope to make some progress this coming week as I go back to a more normal routine.
