HOW to get into Jazz - 1235
Added 2024-01-04 23:07:27 +0000 UTCAnother concept I like to use is the 1-2-3-5 pattern. This pattern gained popularity through John Coltrane, and it essentially involves playing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th notes of the scale. For instance, if a Cmaj7 chord is played, the corresponding notes would be C, D, E, and G. In the case of a Cm7 chord, the notes would be C, D, Eb, G. There are numerous ways to execute this pattern across the fretboards, I personally really like tapping it. It can be played in the following variations:
- 1253
- 1325
- 1352
- 1523
- 1532
- 2135
- 2153
- 2315
- 2351
- 2513
- 2531
- 3125
- 3152
- 3215
- 3251
- 3512
- 3521
- 5123
- 5132
- 5213
- 5231
- 5312
- 5321
I love to practice them over all kinds of chord progressions.
